Apparently a bunch of people are getting butthurt over this game

Good to know the infinite wisdom of fanbases hasn't changed.

Just beat the game and no, it's not 2 to 3 hours long.

I want to go back and play with the commentary on.

Find a partner and play it, now.

For one playthrough it could be 3 hours if you rush through it.

But given the nature of the game to hold many easter eggs and such, it makes it a lot longer than that. I can replay chapter 9 over and over and over again.

I just looked up the commentary nodes on YouTube. It's really not worth it to play through the game again just for them, since you can't save progress, and unlike the original, "chapters" are much longer (so you cannot just skip to the areas that have them).

It isn't THAT bad.

I just play through a whole chapter and when I reach a new one I take a break.

Anyways, finished playthrough 2, now I'm going through splitscreen coop with my brother right now, grabbing a ton more achievements, and I'll probably start a commentary run through the game eventually.

My brother bought it the other day, and I really want to play it... unfortunately, I can't run it on my laptop because it requires OSX 10.6 and I only have 10.5.

No love for the perpetual testing initiative (puzzle editor)?
I am disappoint(ed).

I made a few test chambers myself.

I have had a lot of issues using the editor. It's kind of unintuitive.

I much prefer Sauerbraten's style, and after using that so much I find it hard to edit anything... That and a lot of stuff just ends up crashing. :/ I had a map that was nearly unrecoverable that way.

I only spend a few minutes with it, and it seems like Level Creation for Dummies™, but it also seems like there's no way for power users to make anything extraordinary (besides REFLEX TWITCH PORTALING GO). Plus yeah, buggy.

I kinda figure the power users will
just keep on making their maps in hammer

also I like the editor for randomly clicking a map
into existence and then trying to beat it

but I don't really jive with it for serious work

I found it a neat diversion.

Unlike Hammer, the Puzzlemaker has a very short learning curve, meaning people can dive into puzzle-making right away and immediately. You don't need to invest particular effort in using the tools. Instead, you can concentrate on what you want to accomplish. Well, most of the time, when the editor's limitations are not getting in the way.

Sure, it's limited in what you can do, but artists are not defined by their tools. Good artists make good stuff even with bad tools. Surely everyone has seen amazing drawings that have been made in mspaint, for example.

And no, I don't think that "reflex twitch portaling go", i.e. puzzles that require impossibly accurate/rapid maneuvers, makes for good puzzles, either.

Isn't it possible to make a map layout in the editor, then edit it some more in Hammer?
