Yesterday at work a short dude with designer thick-rimmed glasses comes up to me and asks me if we have any sales going on. So I tell him, no, we don't, but we do have promotions and before I can say anything else he cuts me off and says, "What's the difference between a fucking sale and a promotion?" and then immediately he just goes, "never mind" and walks off.

I'm so obsessed with spices it's not funny. I just bought a 2 oz jar of ground lavender from a family-owned organic farm in Arizona and now I'm thinking about some other spices I could have in my life but I'm missing. Like sumac. Or cardamon. Or sesame seeds. Or chervil. Cress. Cicely. Fenugreek.

These flavors are like my palette and I want as many colors as I can get.

But for now, I'm seriously so excited about lavender. It's an essential part of Provençal cooking and most herbes de Provence mixtures leave it out because it's hard to find in the US. But lavender also has a surprising number of fun food pairings like lobster or vanilla or blueberries and I really really want to just explore all of these.

The first thing I'll probably do is make some (gluten-free!) mascarpone-vanilla-lavender sugar cookies. Maybe fill it with some homemade blueberry preserve. I don't know. I just know it's going to be awesome.

Ever since I got a job and a girlfriend, I've been caring less about how I look. Not in a "oh, I'm such a slob that I'm going to go out in sweatpants and a tee or a tracksuit or whatever" way, but I've been letting my hair do its own thing instead of forcing my bangs to sweep or fall in this perfect little way. I haven't been wearing make-up as much if at all.

My style's been changing. I've gone from wearing skirts and blouses to high waist shorts with tank tops and oxford button-downs as lightweight jackets. I've been not wearing my bra so I'd look flatter and more androgynous. I've been trying to embrace a more "queer" identity. I feel like I've been doing this as a reaction to how all the other girls at work dress. They dress so girly and I want to stand out. I hate blending in.

Huh. I thought you were on 10.6.

Wonder why they'd do that, though. (And I guess it's a good thing I run 10.6 and 10.7 primarily, then... even if 10.6 is on my netbook

)

Then again, it's not like too much is lost - after all, most 10.5 users these days I'd imagine would be PowerPC users, and Chrome never supported PPC anyway. (Frustratingly, but eh.)
