Seen lots of stuff like this for other games. I actually think this sort of thing is really uninteresting, using a lot of glitches to force the right value to come up and corrupt the stack to load the end routine. It's honestly really boring and I hate this sort of thing. Some people consider it to be "completing the game" but I don't. Interesting from a technical standpoint but it doesn't make for an interesting video.

I personally, love seeing when a game is so hilariously broken that fish are flying everywhere, stages glitch so horribly mid-way that they don't even clear properly, and you're warped to the final boss with a stick.
I think it makes for a very interesting run showing an insane extent to which the game can be theorically exploited without any actual hacking, which in my oppinion, is what a TAS is really about.

Then again, I don't care for the actual completion of the game, so.

There is nothing more fun than A) breaking a game horrendously or B) Speedrunning a game and getting a good time. A) Play through Ocarina of Time, but make it a goal to ONLY have the Light Medallion, Shadow Medallion and Spirit Medallion when you beat the game. B) I'm addicted to Super Metroid speedrunning.

Win the game and have zero items you're supposed to have. In less than a minute. In a forty hour, next generation game.

Once that is achieved then TAS speedrunning will be over. Nothing would be able to top that.

That'd be boring. Though I imagine what happened there might have been some debug button sequence or something.

There should really be tiers to speed running. There's breaking a game entirely like what happened in that super mario world one, but then there's legitimately completing it, while still using frame by frame input, and many games have various levels of completion. Super Mario World again as an example we all know as being fairly nonlinear, and can be completed while beating very few levels, or going the whole "normal" route of no secret exits, or doing a 96 exit run. Each is interesting in it's own way. Metroid games as well. Sure it's fun seeing the game completely broken and letting you go straight to Tourian with basically nothing completed, but it'd also be fun to see a minimal speedrun without the use of glitches to that extent, or a 100% run.

I think even TASVideos does have tiers?

Personally I like this kind of absolute borken TAS... if I recall from the explanation correctly, it's not a debug sequence but is apparently extreme manipulation of the random number generator to cause an exact sequence of events that writes some code in RAM (enough to do a jump instruction to the ending)
