Started a month ago, and it might look hard, but it actually is waaaaay easier to type now.

So, anybody else in the Dvorak club?

I use Colemak as well.

I had 81wpm yesterday, but I only managed 62 this morning.
Neither compares to the 109wpm I still have in qwerty, though..

I don't use Dvorak, but last week I did see a guy driving a black van with a "DVORAK" license plate and lots of Ron Paul and Alex Jones bumper stickers. Does that count?

He is probably just a fan of Romantic-era music.

I remember trying Dvorak a long time ago, but I got really frustrated at how long it would take me to type out a simple sentence that I said 'screw it' and went back to Qwerty.

I don't care what anyone says, and I know that practice makes perfect, but I'm not going to be trying that again anytime soon.

Yes, I use DVORAK all the time. I get about 80+ WPM with it currently and climbing. It took me a while to learn though. It was rather hard on my brain to rewire all my fingers like that.

Not that I could since my laptop's keys are all locked into place anyway, and I use it most.

I'm told if you use an alternate layout, you shouldn't change the keys around anyway, since like the goal is to memorize the positions anyway...

But I don't know, I don't bother to use anything other than qwerty myself... it just seems kind of like a lot of effort for very little gain... (especially when one considers that many of the studies behind dvorak's superiority are apparently somewhat dubious)

Okay, I admit I once attempted to switch to the Dvorak dark side. A few years ago I had an old 486 sitting around that someone had given me and for some reason I decided to change the keyboard layout to Dvorak just to see if I could learn it, and being an idiot with very little foresight, I also pulled off all the keys and rearranged them, resulting in a horrible bumpy keyboard with half the keys sitting at the wrong height. It didn't exactly make for comfortable typing.

About a week later I decided Dvorak sucked and so I switched back to QWERTY but left the shitty mangled keyboard the way it was for the rest of that miserable computer's life.

I modded a Dell keyboard. Aside from [] keys being shorter and the + and _ keys being a bit too tall, it's actually uniform.

It may be difficult, but typing's been a decent breeze for me so far. It just varies from person to person, I guess.

Also, I have an uncofortable urge to say "Stallman-sama" due to /g/. :p

I just use the keys as is on my ancient 20+ year old keyboard. I just memorized the positions without looking at the keys at all. It works well.

I'm aiming for 100 WPM eventually though. I'm not content with just the minor WPM I have currently.

This is as fast as I type in DVORAK now. I'm aiming for 100, but my fingers start to fatigue when I go that fast...

I type at about 80-90 WPM with a standard USA keyboard layout, with minimal mistakes. It would break my brain if I tried to learn a different way.

Hm, I wonder what kind of layout would be more efficient to write Chinese. Maybe one with most consonants in one side and vowels in the other

I use QWERTY, have been forever now and I don't see any worthwhile reason to change, so meh.
