Ubisoft was at EVERY conference for the major consoles.

In any case, Nintendo is not typically a company that relies on third-party titles to build excitement for its consoles.

Yeah, sorry for expecting any of the major console guys to show something, anything that would make people want to buy consoles that isn't Manshoot 3: More Shootman.

Nintendo's problem was that every 'reveal' was for something we've known about for quite a while already. If Miyamoto hadn't confirmed Pikmin 3 before E3, if it wasn't rumored at months beforehand, it'd have been an amazing presentation. There was good news, just nothing entirely new and exciting.

I think Ubisoft was smart to end on the new IP- ok, Nintendoland was also new, but the presentation of it was sleep-inducing by the end.

Funny you say this, considering that the only really bad part of Ubisoft's presentation was Just Dance 4, and since their conference was appealing to people that would want to sell this shit and whatnot and not the actual gamers, it was needed to get people to stick around for their conference.

Sure, that guest host was not funny but as people need to be reminded, these conferences are NOT for us. They are for press people. They need to appeal to them before they appeal to us, and that may be a bad thing, actually. However, Ubisoft did take risks due to this by showing games that were good. You may not like Just Dance 4, but starting it off with a game that has massive casual appeal was smart of them. Everything else was very risky.

Well, to be fair, the Youtube clown did basically shit up most of the show.

That and Ubisoft totally blew ShootMania.

This is why I don't see Nintendo's conference as the "absolute assiest shit in the world gaming is dead" that everyone says it is. It was a business conference. There was definitely some stuff lacking though. Normally Nintendo doesn't take 10 minutes to explain a minigame, so I have a feeling they reshuffled their conference last minute.

Yeah, maybe they could've shown off some stuff that wasn't going to be 2012 only, but otherwise, it wasn't end of gaming bad. People just got way too hyped up over it expecting something else.

If anything I'd say Ubisoft's presentation quality should've dragged it down a notch. That "girl wood" shit doesn't look good to gamers or the people who will be selling the product. It was just bad.

Not that I am a fan of Tobuscus, but I at least found him far better than MR. Caffeine.

Tobuscus is great (at least his early stuff), but his fanbase is ridiculous. I have a friend on my Facebook shitting himself over the fact that Tobuscus asked his question. Big deal

Anyway. Heroes of Ruin. Downloaded the demo and oh my god, I want it to be out now. It'd be better if the map on the bottom screen had some arrows pointing in the direction of your quest, so you don't accidentally trigger the boss without doing all the stuff you want, but it's a great game.

This E3 was boring. I'm glad I didn't fork out the cash to see it. Really, I think E3 as a whole is dead. Nobody shows new consoles, there are little to no "New IP", and most of the time it's all a bunch of advertisements for boring things. It went from being "THE FUTURE OF GAMING IS HERE" to "Watch a bunch of old men blather on about corporate talking points." Even if E3 happens again next year... I think it's just dead, Jim.

A new console, but it did not debut at this E3. In the old days that was where all the new consoles were revealed. Not so much anymore.

This is why I don't see Nintendo's conference as the "absolute assiest shit in the world gaming is dead" that everyone says it is.

I was under the impression that the worst-in-show award was firmly in the cold, dead hands of Microsoft and EA (SPORTS!).

Nintendo was slightly better than Sony, who was a good bit better than EA/MS... but Ubisoft really did the best.

Nintendo just blew a lot of potential, like Fire Emblem. The "Well it wouldn't be out this year" thing isn't an excuse either, since the Wii U debuted last year and it sure as hell didn't come out then.

I'm glad to know that Watch Dogs is coming to PC in 2013. I was worried that it was going to be console-only, as I no longer own one. Then again, if it turned out to be as awesome as we're hoping, it would have been worth it.

Either way, no worries about that for me!

That comment was only meant for this year. Of course they don't always show games that come out the same year. Paper Mario was announced in 2010, and was completely absent from 2011's show. This year, their focus was on saying "we have a brand new console and 30 games coming out for you in the next sixth months!"

For all we know, Fire Emblem probably hasn't reached the next significant stage in development yet. Showing it this year would look the same as it was last year, and their information would be the same. This is probably the same reason Paper Mario wasn't shown last year. It's disappointing, yes, but you can bet it will be one of the games showcased next year. Edit: Didn't know it was already out in Japan.

@MetalMan88: Of course it didn't debut at this year's E3. It debuted at last year's E3.

Fire Emblem: Awakening has been out in Japan since April- if it's not coming out this year, that's quite a while for localization.

See, Fire Emblem is already finished and released in Japan, at this point it's just awaiting localization. And it's not like they've never released Japanese-language gameplay trailers before.. just strikes me as odd that the announcement was a by-the-way on Twitter.
