I agree with the people who think that many other companies deserved the award more. Whether it's Bank of America or News Corp, many are out there with deeds much worse than just releasing crappy products.

Bumping because this article is going to cause EA to die in a fire.

http://www.pcgamer.com/2012/06/06/ea-senior-vp-comments-on-steam-sales-%E2%80%9Ci-just-think-it-cheapens-your-intellectual-property-%E2%80%9D/

Steam is set to succeed, while Origin is set to fail even more.

What exactly is it that we should be outraged about? The fact that EA isn't offering the same kind of unbelievable deals as Steam, or the fact that they said such deals cheapen the intellectual property?

'Cause I really don't see how either is all that big a deal. I am, however, open to having anyone attempt to explain it to me.

It's a uninformed dig at a competitor that sounds just like sour grapes.

Since indie/other devs reported high profits because of those sales.

I love the comparison of Valve being Target and EA being Nordstrom.

News flash, EA.

Your everyday gamer can't afford fucking Nordstroms.

In fact, there's more than a handful of reports that steam sales are so successful at bringing in money that it's saved a few development studios over the years.

EA just wants to price its games at X and EVERYBODY SHOULD BUY IT AT X.

The way the payments work out, digital downloads don't cost distributors a damn thing. Higher profits directly results from more customers, unless you drive the price down to a dozen cents or so.

Electronic Farts is stuck in an old mindset, like Borders was. And like Borders shows, if you don't adjust your business to suit the changing spending habits of your customers (not the other way around), you won't have to worry about the door hitting you in the ass on the way out because you'll be holding it in your hands.

Uh.

That CEO has no idea what he's talking about. A lot of games have gotten discounts bigger than 50% in Origin. Outside the US.

Back in March / April we had 50-75% off discounts down in Mexico and in some European countries. I couldn't buy a damn thing, but the option was there at least.
