I don't know. Plus they didn't put a release date for the Wii U on the conference or reveal what Radeon HD series the console was using, which also hurts the grade.

I thought 2011 was bad enough, but 2012 overall is just worse. Even with Ubisoft with their Watch Dogs, this is no doubt the worst E3 I have ever seen in my life.

I wasn't that impressed. I wasn't disappointed, aside from the fact they didn't announce a new Zelda or Metroid, but it wasn't a great E3. I'd like to have seen more gameplay and less NintendoLand, but hopefully, the software showcase is worth it. At 2 in the morning...

I'm not surprised they didn't announce more technical details- that doesn't seem like something they usually do.

But yeah, more launch details of any sort would have been nice. But instead, let's take one last look at Nintendoland.

It may not have been as super-impressive as last years, but you can tell they're trying. With the Nintendo Direct on Sunday, and the upcoming 3DS presentation tomorrow, Nintendo is giving out more information than everyone else.


Nintendo Land looks fun. The Luigi's Mansion and Animal Crossing attractions shown are very well designed, and I can't wait to try them out.

Sigh. I am sorely disappointed by the lack of non-Mario and non-party/casual/fitness first-party games at Nintendo's conference, notwithstanding Pikmin 3.

Maybe it's because I played F-Zero X literally 15 minutes before the presentation started, but where's that? Or Star Fox, or Metroid? Zelda not so much, as we "just" got Skyward Sword, but the others? For example, it's been around eight years since F-Zero Climax, and that was Japan-only. This is Metroid territory right there, just like the gap between Super and Prime.

A disappointment for anyone who remembers and loves those franchises. Here's hoping for something at that 3DS-specific presentation tomorrow, be it at least a teaser or something... unless Nintendo wants to turn them (and F-Zero first and foremost, considering the time passed already) into the next Kid Icarus.

It fills the same role in introducing the features of the WiiU, yes, but you can't say the gameplay is the same.


On a side note, I enjoyed Wii Sports. So did my mom, and she almost never plays video games.

The problem I have is that they are treating this as a title you must pay for separately from the system. They never said it is bundled with the console at all, and that scares me that people will be paying $50 for 12 minigames because Nintendo.

If they said "This game comes with the Wii U consoles" then I'd be all fine with it (except the whole time spent on it when other games could have been displayed) but they never did.

I'm pretty sure it being bundled was implied?

Like, selling it separately would be a huge marketing failure, and I'm pretty sure it wouldn't fly.



With that said, Nintendo's conference wasn't all bad, but it wasn't really that good either. Semi-interested in what they in store for 3DS, but I'll have to miss that one, will have to check on it later.

That did worry me a bit, yeah. Seems odd that they wouldn't bundle it with the system, but that's something they may announce later on, along with release date and price.


Edit: "Will be released at the same time" isn't quite the same as "will come with the system".

The implication I got was very much that it wouldn't be bundled, since they did specifically say it would be a launch title...

Maybe they'll throw something with it to make up for it, like Wii Play.

Or they could potentially sell it for less than normal games. Of course, no point in speculating right now. I'm sure we'll learn more at the Tokyo Game Show or Game Developer's Conference... whichever comes first.


Also, if you think about it, this is a big year for Mario. If you count Luigi's Mansion, that's four games slated for release this year!

Not too exciting of a show, but the extra stuff trailers look nice. (Like that hero-city-mass game from Platinum games.)
