This thread: bli$$rd sux lol

Seriously guys, why don't you have fun with the game if you own it, or if you don't (CPU) shut the hell up.

The only one who seems to have had a legitimate problem so far is Shadic. Seriously, this is retarded. The majority of people who bought the game seem to not give a shit. They're too busy playing rather than ranting about it.

This problem persists in online games. Yes, Diablo 3 is a motherfucking online game. It has drop in/out multiplayer. It's an online game. It is not singleplayer. It is called playing a private game alone. It is a multiplayer game with a singleplayer mode.

I don't have the game (I don't have the money for it.) But this thread is getting hilariously terrible.

EDIT: And you can even call blizzard and ask for a rollback. COme on. What other fucking game lets you do that?

The app is free on Android and iOS, just as secure.

That being said, Blizzard games are the hottest titles right now. Of course they're going to have the most compromised accounts. Diablo II was rampant with account stealing, duping, and gold selling. Besides the obvious issue of case insensitive passwords, what else could be done to increase security when the gold selling companies have some very innovative and aggressive ways to compromise your account? I read an article where someones password was phished from the Adobe Flash vulnerability some months ago and the person put off updating it for a few days. That's all it took.

Heck, my account got hacked last year before I got an authenticator. I had a strong password, hadn't installed anything in months, nor visited any unfamiliar web sites before my account was compromised. Unfortunately, this is what you have to put up with playing Blizzard games because they are so popular. They've put out these security measures for everyone to use for a reasonable fee, or free for the phone app, but people still refuse to use them for benign reasons... It boggles my mind.

It would still cost me $27. Looky: Link Edit: And just to show I am not making this up.

Being from Aus, I have to buy in USD from the US store anyhow. F- try again.

Edit: Also cranky because my game has an 8 hour maintenance window during my evening primetime. Back to TF2 I guess.

You know what? Let's make this to official Diablo 3 bitching thread. Where all of you guys can whine and cry on how much Blizzard takes your money and throws shit at you through your monitors.

E- This game is literally worse than Duke Nukem Forever + 9/11 + The Holocouset

Wah wah wah

Y'know, Enig was reasonable. I've been more-or-less reasonable. Xenesis has a legitimate complaint. Shadic's got a legitimate complaint. You are the one being a whiny fanboy.

So with all due disrespect, fuck off and fuck you.

Good Grief you guys can you please knock it off christ.

Diablo 3 is a flawed game. Blizzard has bad security. This is no reason to start ripping out each other's throats. Please stop acting as if the game is some sort of sacred, holy thing that you must defend at all costs.2

This is the first time I've ever had an account stolen from me on a game, and it happens in the first two weeks? And thousands of other people have the same issue.

Also, as a protip, if hundreds to thousands of accounts are being hijacked, that is not a "small security issue" that can be "fixed with an authenticator". That is an all-out, utter failing of design.1.

1. Games like Gunbound, back in the day, had IP-based restrictions. If you logged in from a new IP, you had to verify your account by checking your e-mail. Steam Guard does something almost exactly like this, and (while slightly annoying the first time) it pretty much stops things dead unless you're an idiot who uses the same password, since you have to know the account name, password, e-mail, and e-mail password.

2. This goes for people who are needlessly fighting against the game, too, but for the most part those people actually have a reason to be so upset.

Dude, seriously. Go outside. Read a book. At the very least, play something not by Blizzard.

You have a problem.

Enough.

Let me make it very clear that if you want to talk about the game, go ahead. If you want to continue going at each other's throats, I will personally ban you for a week.

One of the things you have to remember is that it's a different game than World of Warcraft. They probably have a ton of information on hackers targeting their main product, but every new game has it's own properties and system, so even with all that information you can't prepare for everything.

And as it was said, even with multiple protection methods, no online account will be 100% safe. It will be much more safer, but absolutely safe? Nope. The companies who run account compromising as their main line of work (apart from gold selling) also use different methods in tandem to get through those multiple layers of defense.

People I know might be wrong, but I've been told by a few people working on online security that case-sensitive passwords aren't any stronger than "all lowercase" passwords. It slows a cracker program so briefly that it does not matter.

Online security aside, I still haven't got this game. I kinda want to find the Collector's Edition, but almost all of them have been sold.

Playing as a Demon Hunter is a ton of fun, though. At least that's what I've got from occasional hour or two on a friends account.

From How Secure Is My Password:

"1example!"

It would take a desktop PC About 108 days to hack your password

That same password, but now case-sensitive (with a single capital thrown in):
"1Example!"

About 3 years

(these are just ballpark estimates, but it gets the point across.)

Saying that case sensitivity doesn't matter is only true if your password is already insecure. By throwing in capitals you effectively double the size of the alphabet from 26 letters (abcd...wxyz) to 52 (abcd...wxyzABCD...WXYZ).

E: Better example:

1LargeGrapefruit!: 14,000,000,000,000,000 (14 quadrillion years)
1largegrapefruit!: 13,000,000,000 (13 trillion years)

Mine wouldn't take long if the cracker had a really good graphics card or two.

Remember, nVidia, ATI and GDDR5 RAM do much, much more than massive Katamari-scale clumps of traffic cones in G-Mod.

But I digress.

I gave Diablo 3's guest pass a shot, and to be honest, I'm pretty impressed. It's got a similar feel to Diablo 2, and although the guest pass doesn't get you very far in (caps out at level 13 and the Skeleton King) and there's no matchmaking with non-guest-pass accounts, it's pretty fun! I may end up buying the whole game after all.

This is pretty much what happened to me. Liked it a hell of a lot more than I'd imagined, even if it is largely only played with Typhoid

Found a good farm spot last night in Act 4 Inferno. There's a way to get to the Prime Evil quest without actually clearing everything before it first. And then you go through 2 small areas and end up at a mini boss. It has a chance to be 1 of 3 mini bosses, I can kill 2 of them. If it's the 3rd one, I just restart it.

Last night my wife got a rare amulet that she sold for 450k and I got a legendary bracer that I sold for 400k. It was only a minor dps upgrade for me (around 400) so I didn't want to keep it. It had change to knock back on it but I'd prefer change to root or snare over knock back.

These mini bosses supposedly drop 1,000+ dps weapons but the highest I've had drop so far is about 650dps. I did get a mojo off hand with 91-228 damage and I'm using a 727 dps dagger which makes it better than a 1,027dps sword I bought for 50k. So now I'm only looking for 1 handed weapons since my off hand is so good. Right now I'm sitting at 28,000 damage. I was able to solo the Butcher last night after a few attempts.
