Originally posted by Sponty Part of the problem is that Blizzard has had 8 years of practice dealing with hacking/etc going on in WoW, and it seems like fuck-all has been done to counteract it in D3, aside from the authenticator. I mean, within a week of the game's release, I've seen at least a dozen people through Tumblr, Reddit, hell, even one of my Facebook friends has been hacked. Not exactly a good start. Yeah, I'm sure it happens all the time in WoW, but I've never seen it this widespread. Blizzard should have had countermeasures in place from day 1.
This is the issue exactly.
They've been doing online gameplay for like two decades almost, and apparently their experiences with WoW meant jack-all, because they've got thousands of people getting hacked within the first few weeks.
Blaming Blizzard makes perfect fucking sense. They're the ones with the vulnerabilities. If they're not the ones getting blamed, they're not going to be assed into fixing anything.
And that condom metaphor is fucking awful, and on one hell of a random tangent. No shit nothing is 100% certain. I still shouldn't be required to pony up an additional $6 on a device to make sure I don't lose all of my server-stored stuff in the single-player game because Blizzard can't secure their shit.
If a bank got robbed 50 times the first day it opened, I'd sure as fuck be blaming the bank. Yes, it's ultimately because of the asshole robber, but when the door was fucking kept open for them, the results shouldn't be surprising. ____________________ |
