Looks like there's an item based off of the popular Boatmurdered LP of Dwarf Fortress that happened over at Something Awful.

That is absolutely amazing.

Don't farm gear, just farm gold. You'll get enough gold for a specific item with stats you need faster than farming for gear that's itemized for you. And crafting is a waste of time right now. Don't even bother with either of them. You can buy perfect square gems for less than 10k.

This. What I've been doing is maxing out Gold Find on my gear, and doing the last quest of Act 3 over and over again. There's so many trash mobs, and with maxed GF, they can drop up to 5-600 gold a pack. A good run nets me something like 10k.

Interesting. On norm? nightmare? What is your GF? Is there an actual cap? I didn't see any in a quick search. Making a GF build is actually a great idea seeing as how 95% of all gear upgrades are coming from AH. (I don't have a problem with that, just pointing it out)

Also, yeah, Barbarian is now my flavor of the weeks class...

Huh?

Going high gold find would be good to farm act 1 hell or act 4 nightmare. If you have Whymshire then that's a good place to farm gold, too. We have it unlocked on hell. It's actually not too bad as far as difficulty. It's on part with act 4 of the equivalent mode.

Whoops, I left out vital information.
Act 3 Nightmare. I was rolling ~100% GF. If you get a 60 character, there's enough elite camps to get you to 5 Valor of the Nephalem stacks, putting you over 200%. Insane money.

The fact I can't use SMS Protect on a prepaid phone is just bullshit. I mean it supports texting; why won't Blizzard allow no-contract mobile phones like mine?

So yeah a few of my friends got hacked. Guess I'm the only one who didn't because an authenticator is only 6 dollars

Seriously, you will owe it to yourself to get one. Don't have one? Get one.

But why the fuck do you have to pay MORE money for something that shouldn't be a problem in the first god damn place?

And with that, you just answered why Blizzard won't give a shit this problem is happening: money.

Why bother fixing it when you can tell people to spend 6 bucks on something just so they can play a fucking game!?

There are several glaringly obvious problems with Diablo 3 that makes me unable to ever want to pay for it regardless of what I think about the gameplay. Kinda funny how that is?

oh my god

Seriously dude?

The only reason I bought an authenticator was because there were some MMO's I have been playing where with me being smart about using weird downloads, keyloggers, and what have you. I still got hacked. Even though those games never had the authentication feature to begin with. Granted, if said companies had one. There would be more people not getting their shit stolen. People NEED this kinda thing.

:specialed: SO MY GUILDMATE TOLD ME THAT MMO-CHAMPION HAD SOME THING ABOUT HOW AUTHENTICATORS AREN'T SAFE BECAUSE SOME GUY HAD ONE AND GOT HA

Nothing in the computer world is 100% protected.

I'm going to repeat this one more time. Nothing in the computer world is 100% protected

An authenticator; mind you, does not add that '100%' level of security to your account. Are you going to throw away and never use your condoms because they are not 100% effective? Are you going to never buy a console again because they don't last forever?

No, you won't. You are going to use said products. And shit happens.

An authenticator just adds a little more protection to your account for 6 fucking dollars

Jesus Christ

E- Also, love that last thing you said

You know who you should blame!? BLI$$ARD!

Uhh, no? How about that person who figured this out and took all your shit? Thats like saying you got your vehicle robbed and you want to blame the company that made the vehicle. Makes perfect sense.

E2- Also, I am not trying to justify or defend this game. I have some 'issues' with this game. But it's still fun as shit to play and I'm having a blast. No, I'm not happy thousands upon thousands of people are getting hacked but the main thing I am looking at is that all online MMO / games out there have people getting hacked. Hell, if I can remember, even this very forum had some fuckery going on and even though it was patched. It -could- still happen given the right brain power.

I just hate seeing ignorant arguments like blaming blizzard for shit like this when really this is another step in learning how not to deal with that situation in the future. I remember that big stiff when Sony got their servers hacked and people bitched and complained for months. The turnaround? Better stability of servers and better services.

Could Sony get hacked again? Yeah. Your account? Yeah. Future consoles? Yeah. Bli$$ard? Yeah. Nintendo? Already happened

Part of the problem is that Blizzard has had 8 years of practice dealing with hacking/etc going on in WoW, and it seems like fuck-all has been done to counteract it in D3, aside from the authenticator. I mean, within a week of the game's release, I've seen at least a dozen people through Tumblr, Reddit, hell, even one of my Facebook friends has been hacked. Not exactly a good start. Yeah, I'm sure it happens all the time in WoW, but I've never seen it this widespread. Blizzard should have had countermeasures in place from day 1.

This is incredible. It's like nothing you guys have read even sunk in.

Part of the problem is that Blizzard has had 8 years of practice dealing with hacking/etc going on in WoW

This isn't WoW. This is Diablo 3. And if the security breach was like with WoW as it is Diablo. There would be CHAOS. THOUSANDS more players on WoW would have been hacked already.

and it seems like fuck-all has been done to counteract it in D3

See above

I mean, within a week of the game's release...

Tell me what MMO / Online game was perfect on the first week on release. I've been doing MMO's since Asherons Call back in the 90's and even then it had problems. Hacking came way later sure. But it had problems.

Yeah, I'm sure it happens all the time in WoW, but I've never seen it this widespread.

..lol. Seriously? It happens in all games. Even WoW, and even Starcraft

Blizzard should have had countermeasures in place from day 1.

You guys are right. Fuck hotfixes and fuck everything. THIS GAME BLOWS

You guys are forgetting the major point about Diablo 3. And also you guys are serious looking waaaaayyyyy too into it's -minor- flaws. The major point about Diablo 3 is that it's supposed to be FUN! Those of you who did play had fun right? Those of you who got hacked know that this game was fun right? If you honestly did not feel this game was fun then god damnit don't play this game. But don't think this game isn't fun because some of the people out there were idiots with passwords (Even thought they said they were) and got hacked thought an OBVIOUS exploit that Blizzard is (You guessed it) going to IMMINENTLY patch.

Ok, tell you what. If say you were hacked. Call Blizzard. A quick rollback on your account changed everything. Should not take no more than an hour. Problem Solved.

To those not hacked. Is this seriously stopping you from playing this game? It's Blizzard. OF COURSE THIS IS A HUGE FUCKING GAME.

And if you are complaining about authenticates then if you can literally spend 60 bucks on a fucking videogame but can't spend 6 bucks on a little piece of plastic that better helps your security on Battle.net

Then you don't need to be playing games made by Blizzard.

If a bank got robbed 50 times the first day it opened,

Banks get robbed. Try again. You are pulling hypothetical shit out of your ass

If their security is that goddamned awful that an add-on dongle for $6 (Or more if you're outside the USA) is required 'to keep your account safe' it should be in the goddamn box. And/or freely posted to you if you bought digitally. Authenticators ARE cool security tech, yes. But the fact they don't implement something like Valve's Steam-Guard or otherwise (and allow case sensitive passwords ffs) screams of 'la la la I can't hear you get an authenticator we have no security problems la la la.'

quoting myself. keyword widespread

8 years of dealing with online, through running the MMO with the largest user base. There shouldn't be a need for hotfixes to patch major exploits.

Don't get me wrong, I thought the beta was awesome, but in its present state, the game should still be going through massive QA testing. Instead Blizzard pushed it out to release and figured 'we'll just push the authenticator, fix the bugs later'.

Bitmap, please stop going full potato and listen to reason for a moment.

Diablo II was over a decade ago. In that time, they've had World of Warcraft, a game rife with hacking, yet it has taught them a lot on how to prevent hacking overall. Now Diablo III is out, and they are simply not using their experience beyond ripping the player off $6 for something that is the equivalent of showing a police officer your ID when pulled over on a highway. That's not acceptable, that's just moderate greed.

Secondly, Diablo II had a Level 85 cap. Now, over a decade later, DIII stops at 60. This is either a sad sign of casual players' influence or the factor that they may use this tactic to release an expansion pack that lifts this, making themselves far more money for something that they could've done from the beginning. Also greed.

Not only this, but in the time between the second and third games, they didn't use third-dimensional rendering. The usage of two-dimensional fields made sense during the heyday of D1 and DII, but now with how powerful modern computers all, they gave us the prerendered graphics instead of a top-down view of a real-time rendered area. This is just sad when you consider that this is a game that took over a decade.

Finally, I'm just going to say this ahead of time just so you don't try to justify how bad it is- Always Online DRM is a horrible thing. With it, the end user cannot own the maps, which, if you haven't realized it, are pretty much needed full-time. Imagine when the servers are taken down one day. The game discs, along with all download files, would be as valuable as the old AOL trial disks until we get player-made maps a few years after we break away all the DRM lockouts, which might take a year or two.

Please, please don't be a Hammer Legion Member. Listen to reason, man.

You know what? Let's make this to official Diablo 3 bitching thread. Where all of you guys can whine and cry on how much Blizzard takes your money and throws shit at you through your monitors.

E- This game is literally worse than Duke Nukem Forever + 9/11 + The Holocouset
