| I actually first joined Acmlmboard in 2006 when I was 11 to show off progress in a Zelda 3 hack. I was also a lurker from about a year before. I turn 17 in a few days now. Most of you probably don't know me but the ones who do know me as Spiderman3. With that said, I don't claim to be that old of a member (or should I say outcast) but six years is enough for me to feel nostalgia; to want to look back and reflect.
I like to think that I had somewhat of a legacy here and at other boards, enough so that I can claim to be a kind of old member. I suppose six years is also enough for the admins to forgive, but technically doesn't that happen every new board reboot? Anyway, it's kind of funny to remember the events that led up to the short-lived so called ultimate rivalry between Acmlmboard and Fireboard. To me, back then, that's what it was. To Acmlmboard, it was probably just another board who tried to pick on the wrong internet forum. Back on topic, to my understanding, it started before I even registered. Firedude was banned from Acmlmboard, so he registered on Ice Board to complain, and they didn't like him complaining so he made his own forum. I and a few others registered and became moderators. The board became just a little more active and I think another Acmlmboard hate thread came up, which turned to be the only subject discussed in the forum. I remember Cirvante registered on the forum, and hacked our high-scores in the games and I thought that was too much and I think I decided that we should spam Acmlmboard. I remember Firedude thought it was a bad idea. So we set it up that the next day, we would spam the heck out of Acmlmboard. I think Fireboard accomplished that. I should have known that having my password set to "testman" was a bad idea. I didn't expect that Acmlmboard would hack Fireboard after that, but in hindsight, it was not at all smart that my password was "testman" on both accounts. I think through my account, Acmlmboard was able to easily get control over Fireboard. The next day Firedude shut down the board, so we started IMing. The spam mostly stopped, but not from me. For some reason, I liked spamming Acmlmboard. Being forced to see that Ninja AE layout when logging in was fun and only meant another proxy, another account. I liked spamming Acmlmboard with junk such as posts only containing text such as "YOUISPOO" and "fartslol" Although it was kind of a game to me, it was also my life. I'm secure enough in my life to admit that I would often spend 12 hours a day on some form of Fireboard, Ice Board, an obscure Acmlmboard, Acmlmboard itself, or IM client. So for the next few months, we made new Fireboards and Acmlmboard kept shutting them down. I found out that I could view posts on the old, secret Jul forum with newreply.php but that was fixed. Anyway, Firedude stopped making boards, so I was kind of active on Ice Board, but in the end, I disappeared. By and by I have come across this forum when randomly browsing the internet. I didn't register to get involved in the ROM hacking community. I suppose I registered because it's was 4:30 in the morning, (nearly 5 now) I didn't have anything else to do, so for some reason I decided I would make this post. Anyway, I didn't make this thread just to discuss my involvement here. I find it kind of sad that there's no nostalgia thread for Acmlmboard, given its slightly interesting, drama-filled history. P.S., a random fun-fact: "testman" is in this account's password, but luckily not its password. Not that it would matter if this account were compromised. P.P.S.: A random nobody is in fact a fitting title for me. |
