I don't normally ban for offsite behavior but you're a whole level of terrible.

My experience went: "oh cool this looks pretty awesome wait how do I play I don't understand how to do anything *dead*"
Wheeeeeee...~

I have DotA2 as well.

I'm absolutely terrible at it. All I've learned about it so far is that I can't rush into battle and expect victory.

Once I learn how to do special moves, I'm sure I'll be better.

That game relies on leveling in a lane. Usually IIRC there are two people in top lane and bottom lane and one person in mid lane and you constantly kill the creep (I think that is what they are called?) to level up so you can power up and get gold and skills. If your team is losing, it can be even from one person not leveling or building right. Dota 2 alleviates most of this by helping out with things like good items to obtain early on and later on so you can figure out how to buff your character good.

That's probably my problem.

I try to go against the enemies special units right away.

That's probably not smart.

Good news! I cleared up enough disk space to re-install Team Fortress 2! Woo!

Bad news! Steam released an update today, and it doesn't work with OSX 10.5.8. Guess what my laptop uses.

With as little shame as possible, here's some self-promotion! Cordilon now has a GMod sandbox server up an running on a modified Dell Optiplex in my basement. It's open to the public at present, PvP is enabled, and the max physics and entity caps are cranked. The server runs gm_bigcity 24/7.

Look up Cordilon in the list of multiplayer servers. I believe the player cap is set to 16.

You organize event good
All that talk and nothing going on? Must not be in that big of a hurry to have a get-together.

Still haven't put TF2 back on my computer (and I don't have any immediate plans to), but for those of you that have, try and plan something out, like what times you're available on. The way I figure, less time needs to be spent on -what- to event on, and more time on having an event outright. If you want an event for Game *, then it can be scheduled for later without stalling the others. As it is, nothing's getting done.

All right then. Here's my availability schedule:

Games: TF2

Times: all day, every day, as long as I'm awake

Note: I leave Steam off because of how it heats up my laptop. You'll have to notify me some other way if you want me to join in.

Trackmania is hard due to Trackmania 2 Canyon existing, which would be a better alternative. Plus I think they screwed over the free version of the game.

Also Valve just announced that Dota 2 is going to be a free to play game so when that happens we could add that in as a viable option. 10 people could get in on that at least.

Trackmania 2 just wasn't that compelling to me.

And yeah, TM1 got hit hard by Nadeo.

DotA came out with 6.72f or something. It's basically the same for me though. I don't see much change in it. I'll have to try out DotA 2.

There's ways to skirt around the fucking amazingly braindead stupid restrictions that hit TMNF, but I don't think it's worth it.

(Did I mention I'm still pissed about losing years of hard work due to the stupid requirements introduced for people wanting to run servers for the free players?)

  • Free players can no longer join any available server, they are restricted to a specific set of "freezone" servers that must have a specific set of rules
  • Free players must be forced to sit out every fifth race
  • Server owners must pay (in-game currency) to keep running a server for free players
  • Server owners must use Nadeo's own server maintenance/stat tracker program (this is what pisses me off more than anything else)
  • And probably a whole bunch of other things that I forgot by now

You can get around all of this shit by having every single free player add the server to their favorites first (but keep in mind the maximum number of favorite servers for free players was dropped to somewhere around three or five), or by setting the server up such that it's invisible to everyone and requires external links to join.

Though, I personally think the game's a lost cause now, though.

Lame.

I had hoped I actually got something of value during the Steam Winter event.

Guess this means it's less cool now.

Well it is still in beta and is going the TF2 route, so I'm sure beta players will get an exclusive cosmetic item.
