I'm going to put it bluntly:

this waiting to get in fucking sucks!

And not only that but I can't get the launcher working on my Hackintosh.

Blizzard should have learned from Ubisoft about online-only capabilities on launch.

But nope!

Finally got in and played with my guildies.

Looks like I wont be playing WoW for awhile. Holy crap!

Not even gonna post spoilers. But some REAL SHIT HAPPENS on Act 1. Shortly after the fight with the Skeleton King.

Is anyone surprised that there's server issues? Trust me, it'll get better within a day or two. Blizzard fixes this stuff ASAP.

(Of course, I love how the user reviews for Metacritic and such are crap because "OMG I CAN'T LOG IN". Babies.)

Waiting for Amazon/UPS to drop off the collector's edition. I won't be able to play it until late tonight, after work.

Actually, yes. Two reasons. One, their experience with WoW made me think they'd have the server end of things pretty well taken care of. And two,

This is an issue, nevertheless. A game that promises a release date is unplayable due to a server overload and you spent $60 on it to play on launch day. This is something Blizzard should have anticipated and should have done something to avoid it happening in the first place. Instead, it happened due to the negligence of Blizzard.

Keep in mind that if this were a multiplayer only game, this wouldn't be as big of an issue since the servers would be optimized for such an event. However, considering that this also affects single player characters, it is kind of horrible and an example of intrusive DRM on a video game that makes no sense. They could have easily added in single player without Internet and when logging in to the online servers syncs your single player characters on the multiplayer and saves your character progress locally and on the server side when playing online.

Also Blizzard is doing emergency maintenance and already a HUGE game-breaking bug occurred to where trading with a Templar follower causes desync between you and the Blizzard servers and kicks you out of the game entirely, even when trying to log back in.

I still stand by my stance that games requiring online to play single player are absolutely stupid. I doubt I'll be wanting to pick this up anytime soon.

I'd just like to point out that this didn't happen even in Diablo 2 - Single Player characters were completely segregated from multiplayer-BNET characters (which were hosted on Blizz's servers).

My favorite part is having to wait in a queue because the servers are full.

While playing in singleplayer mode.

My point exactly. However, I was also applying it to modern day games where progress in single player can transfer over to multiplayer without hassle. Diablo II's system was fine as well and even still is fine... if it were even applied here.

What Diablo III does is ass-backwards.

If you have to see this screen for singleplayer SOMETHING IS WRONG

Really wrong.

Bitmap #1805

Stuck in act II right now. But hey.

E- If you guys are desperate to play; you can always play in the EU servers
E2- Go to options, and you should find the server you want to connect to at the login screen. Sure, the charactes you have on the US do not transfer on the other servers; but if it would keep you from bitching about not being able to log in then hey! There is an option.

I think the problem was that StarCraft II launched without any issues, so if Diablo III had roughly the same amount of interest as that, they were good. Nope!

Dumbest choice they could have made (in my opinion), but there has been a bitter back-and-forth going on on the main D3 forums in regards to why they did it. It's something I'd rather not be a part of.

Waiting aside though, the game is loads of fun. I've made it partway through Act 2 myself, and apart from a few nitpicks, it's just as fun as Diablo 2, if not moreso. Act 1 as a whole felt longer than both Acts 1 and 2 from Diablo 2 combined.

The whole, always online thing, really does stink when you cant play when you want to play. But the fact is, this game is kinda worth it. In my opinion at least. And no doubt this server flakyness will be done and over with in a couple days and the game will be fine from then on. Haven't had this much fun in a Action RPG in a long time.

Anyways, currently I'm level 15 Demon Hunter midway through Act 1 I suppose.

Yeah you can just ask Bloodstar how ridiculous things were for me getting into the servers. I now have about 6 or so hours under my belt between two characters but goddamn all the waiting around was a pain in the ass.

Anyway, the game is pretty fun so far, I think I just got to the "some real shit" part happening and if that's what it was, I am indeed wowed by it.

So, if anyone wants to play (slowly, I don't like rushing on a first play through) I'm Spartacus#1948

I'm a level 36~ monk who just finished Act 1 on Nightmare. Holy shit, the difficulty difference is staggering.

Things I like: The game is fun, despite having the most inelegant launch ever.
Things I don't like: The writing is so goddamned predictable and it pisses me off.

I'm gonna edit this with my battletag later, if anyone wants to roflstomp Act 1, 2, and 3 trying to find Special Things.

It's Blizzard writing.

The jerkoff characters are always the winners. (Note: I haven't played beyond Act 1 yet)
