I'm just getting faster each time I try it out. :woot:
Honestly, I don't think this kind of score is bad for me at all.

Just did it again at work:

Visit the Typing Test and try!

Probably would have done better if I wasn't here lol.

Also, typeracer.com is a good place to try and type. It's fun because its' multiplayer and you type actual sentences/quotes/paragraphs, etc. against other people in realtime.

WALLOW IN SHAME!

Just kidding. Many people are happy to be able to type at 60 wpm. Be grateful you don't type with your index fingers.

Dvorak:
Typing Test Score

Qwerty:
Typing Test Score

I came across some stenography software the other day. It looks quite interesting… not sure it’s worth getting a whole new keyboard for it though.

Dvorak is actually what prompted this topic being posted. I use Colemak.

I'm still in the process of switching to DVORAK, so nothing too exciting here.

DVORAK:

Visit the Typing Test and try!

QWERTY:

Visit the Typing Test and try!

(I can pull up to 90 if I'm on a roll with QWERTY, but it generally averages in high 70-high 80 range)

I kind of wish I could switch to Dvorak. The speed gains people get I hear are impressive. My guess is that once I got acclimated to it I'd be able to type over 100 as a base speed. But I don't think I'd be able to learn it with my keys as they are. Looking at qwerty and typing completely different letters would confuse the hell outta me.

But until then,

I wouldn’t say I gained any speed. I used to type about 100wpm Qwerty, but for a short time after switching to Dvorak I lost it completely, then gained most of it back, and now I type 80wpm Qwerty/100wpm Dvorak.

Anecdotally, the biggest benefit is comfort—Dvorak is much easier on my hands. It’s also a good way to keep other people from using your computer without permission

It’s not so bad. If you can touch‐type, you’ll do fine.

I can indeed touch type, but I wouldn't know what key is where. And is it really worth the switch?

So a long while later I come back, typing much faster in DVORAK. I have not completely topped out yet, but it's nice to see that I now go this fast in DVORAK.

Visit the Typing Test and try!

Maybe in time I can beat my QWERTY... although it has suffered a bit from the switch.

My typing speed has been experiencing rapid growth these past few months with no discernible reason.

I had managed to get up to 106 a few days ago, but decided to try it out while I am still slightly groggy.
