All right, so this game actually updated once more, and frankly, this was a major content overhaul! The combat gameplay is still the same at it's core but pretty much everything changed.

First of all: Mist energy is gone!

This change also include removal of energy fee's to play levels meaning you can now play however much or little you want! (And for those who have not played in a long time there is also the mission mode to check out.)
Secondly they revamped crafting majorly: Instead of energy you now use a new resource when crafting/upgrading gear called orbs of alchemy. If you still want to use CE/Energy to pay for the cost you can buy it at the same ratio that you crafted with energy before; However, the main thing is that these orbs drops from chests in dungeons at a fair rate. (The harder difficulty = the more rare drops from chests.)

Next up they added two new difficulty modes, taking the count up to three.
Normal: This is an easier mode that increases drop rate of hearts as well as pills (health pots.) Furthermore enemies deal slightly less damage and have less HP. Drop rate on rarities is lower though.
Advanced: This is the standard mode and plays just like the game did before.
Elite: Lowers drop rate of pills, hearts, and vita pods. Enemies deal slightly more damage and have a good chunk more HP; Rarity drop rate is higher. (They said they will add more things to elite difficulty later.)

The changes don't end there though, the major addition with this update is the battle sprites!
Visually this is a pet that follows you around and helps you out in combat that you have to feed, etc. From a gameplay standpoint alone it's pretty much more customization for your knight and more abilities.
There are three battle sprites to choose from and all three each give you three unique active abilities that you can use in combat.

That's not all though! As your pet levels up you will get perks on it, you can only have one perk equipped at any time but it's a passive bonus for your knight in combat! Even more so, when your pet starts reaching max level you further customize by picking an ultimate variation of each active ability; You will have two ultimates to pick from for any one ability. (They also change how your battle sprite look like!)

So might think "well that sounds kinda snazzy with all the new content!" but what if I told you... there is even more!

That's right, the also reworked the entire gear level up progression system in the game. You still have to get heat in dungeons for your gear, however, once your item have gained the heat needed to upgrade you need to bring to a forge to actually do the level up! Forging uses up a new resource: fire crystals, which you now get, quite frequently, from chests in any dungeon.
Forging has three modes: 20% / 70% / 100% chance of success.
The cost is linear for each: x / x2 / x3 (Where X is the initial cost in fire crystals.)
Example: X = 32, the cost would be: 32 / 64 / 96
Each mode also has a chance for bonuses:
20%: 25% of max heat needed will be added to the crafted item.
70%: Double level up.
100%: Forge prize box. (Which gives you Fire crystals and something else called UV tickets that are VERY valuable .)
Each mode has a chance of the bonuses from the previous one too so, no sense in not using 100%.

I should also note that the computer is a cheating bastard and the % value is pure ballocks here is my more estimated correct values:
15% / 30% / 100%
And here is an estimated rate on how often you get the bonuses:
40% - 25% heat
20% - Double level up
0,5% - Prize box

Examples of using the forge: [1 2 3] (2 and 3 are not from the same forge attempt. )

I should pick this back up again too. I mostly stopped playing 'cause nobody else was playing it, that I knew at least.. It's less fun when I'm waiting for a random crew to assemble, and hoping they don't get us killed.

It's cool to see that the interest for this game is not totally gone.

Also, I guess I should mention that if you want to play bomberman online against people, Spiral knights is the game for it. I know that may sound silly, but Blast Network is a blast to play, no pun intended. It may take a while to get into; But once you get a hang of it and you win 2/3 of matches you are in then you can keep going without losing any crowns. (Plus, you always get tokens for playing.)

I still remember what eventually caused me to stop playing this.

Whom I took a read on and apparently it got nerfed


If I didn't feel like I had a plate where the food randomly flew off of and back onto it again, I'd be trying to play this again right now. And even then I'd probably jump into a difficulty farther up than my aged skill level can tolerate.
But first, I need to try and clear this plate... (of which I still don't know what's trying to pile on it)

Oh, I ended up joining a different guild after all. But that doesn't mean we can't all be friends! Anyone who would love to add Schwalala as a friend may do so.

I main a Dread Venom Striker with High damage vs. Gremlins, the Valiance and several 5* Alchemer line guns, and alternatively I can play a Status Bomber with Ash of Agni, Venom Veiler and Voltaic Tempest (but no Shivermist sorry I hate being patient hahaha) and Volcanic Demo Helm for upped charge speed. Defensively I use a Tetra Heart Pendant (+6 HP) and a combination of Deadly Virulisk full set, Radiant Silvermail, Mecurial Mail, Divine Veil, Volcanic Demo Helm and am slowly branching out into more types such as Crown of the Fallen, Skolver full set, and hopefully one day Arcane Salamander set (you have to beat the Shadow Lair to even craft it, but I have the two Level 10 4* items waiting).

So if any of the above make you salivate or at least make you raise your eyebrows, don't hesitate to friend me if you need a decent mercenary elite on your various runs. ^^

Besides, friend requests make good birthday presents!

I'd like to notify everyone that I'll be leaving the Jul guild on Spiral knights due to issues with being the only player online in it. :I

I'll get an alt character in it and promote it to officer just in case anyone wants to make the guild active again at a later date/etc. Nothing against any of you guys, but I'd rather play with some that are active. :I

Also, I finally crafted my first 5* item, woop woop. I finally got to try a Firestorm Citadel. We made it fine down to the boss, but my group was full of newbies it felt and we all kept dying on the third phase of the boss. Eventually, the guy who invited me to the run rage quit. (He had used up quite a lot of CE to res us.)

But yeah, I would still love to play with you guys, for now, I'll play with Schwa and other people.

For having not played since the start of October, I'm not doing too badly for myself. I haven't been taking any KOs up until Royal Jelly Palace (which I ran through with Lunaria as an ally) as I marched through the missions, though most of that was probably due to having 4S armor (had different, weaker armor at R.J.P. as well, so...?). I have yet to get to 5S equipment, mostly due to not making the effort (or so I think, may / may not have a 5S recipe I can do but haven't).

And note: I spend most of my time playing solo, so it's not other people charging in front of me when I talk about my skill. I used to solo battle arenas all day ev'ry day, and never have to pay a revive for it. Granted that was all in tier 2, but still. (And as to Firestorm Citadel that was just mentioned, -yes- I plan to solo that as well when I get access to it. I will probably stick to using my gun a lot. But dangit, at least he's not the goddamn royal jelly, who's the only boss capable of healing)

Venom Striker + Master Blaster, Miracle armor set + W.Owl shield (Elem/Norm, working on Sunset armor set Norm/Pirc some as well, plan on finding some anti-Shadow later).
Also wouldn't mind offloading a load of materials at any above-vendor price, I'm not one for random player interaction if you didn't guess already.
EDIT: And my in-game name is Vickor, for those humans that care

I don't think firestorm citadel is even possible to solo without just the right gear and all at 5* due to how the dungeon is designed. There are several rather small arenas where you will be facing more then one trojan at the same time, while still dealing with the fire skeletons.

The first and third phase of the boss was designed with at least two player in mind. As you have to attack him from the back and he will always charge towards one player.

Of course, once I do max out an optimized set for the dungeon, I will try, but it's not going to be a cake walk, that's for sure. :I

Sure would be nice if more people from here played this...

Could at least say why it is that you don't like it, if you have played it recently and just haven't been into it? I mean, this isn't like all those other RPGs where you're supposed to spend seventeen years grinding for max level or anything.

Money's hard to get? No, money's not hard to get. You can get to rank 5-2 without CE...

for me I reached a point where
I'm almost stuck in between ranks

the lower boss is just way easy,
and yet the jelly king can just sweep the floor with me


not only that but I had to grind a bunch
to keep my CE levels up enough to actually play

aaaand I cannot stand grinding in any form
(of videogame :superd:)

basically the game became more work than fun


but I haven't played since they
introduced missions, maybe that would change that?


also if anybody wants I have
two joy2key SK gamepad scripts for I made

I think they really make the game easier to play  :D

mmmm, missions makes it a bit easier... but the same goes for late game stuff, making CE prices raise quite a bit. :I

They nerfed jelly king though, so it's not as big of an pain to solo anymore!
And missions added sort of an story for the game that builds up as you do them, making it less grindy. They really have their good moments though, so I recommend doing them!

Also, the greatest fun comes from party play IMO, it's what makes the game even more fun! (Both me and MM200 joined another more active guild! )

The big differences between old and new Royal Jelly (supposedly it's actual name):
- No constantly regenerating HP
- Polyps added to fight (spawns RJMinis)
- RJ can absorb minis for HP
- If polyps are destroyed, no more RJMinis
- Fight is split into three phases
- Third phase is only phase with respawning polyps and "Rage King" attack

No offense, but you might want to try not using CE for anything that isn't crafting if you can?
Or just get an elevator pass. I know the game is labeled F2P, but the thing only costs $6, lasts 30 days, and kills all elevator price tags. Useful.

Missions changed the game to the extent that you don't find many people in the arcade gates anymore. They're that large of a change.

And, yeah, because of how high the payout is for one certain mission/area, CE prices took a bit of a jump up from when you last played. Again, don't use CE outside of crafting if you can help it.
