I downgraded my iBook from Leopard for Tiger for speed and the older look and feel. It's way faster and smoother and the only thing I'm missing from Leopard is not using Ctrl for right clicking. Which I'm doing fine with, by the way.

The laptop doesn't run as hot at all. It's kinda cool.

The harsh desert weather is murdering my hands. The skin on my fingers is kind of peeling and possibly splitting. It's enough to cause some minor pain while typing, mostly on my right ring finger.

This kind of sucks.

That sounds awful... Have you tried like a moisturizer or something?

Ouch, sorry to hear that. When I was in Vegas, the weather dried out my fans pretty fast, I hated it. Your weather sucks. Try getting some sensitive skin lotion on them.

During my Southwest desert trip, my hands basically began bleeding all over from that.

Get some moisturizer to help decrease the pain.

Humidifiers are pretty good, too, if you can keep and maintain one.

I just got an email from American University ... I was accepted!

I still have to wait for the others to reply, but that's certainly good news and keeps my hopes up for the others.

Hand cream. Lots and lots of hand cream. Maybe multiple times a day if need be.

It'll help. Might not be a cure-all, but it won't hurt.

FieryIce: Congrats! One down.

Thanks Colin! I just got the actual letter on the mail; it says I got into the honors program, too!

No information on financial aid yet (that will come in soon, though), but if I got into the honors program, I might be getting merit based scholarships as well, hopefully.

Worry about getting the letters first. Then you can make your choice based on all those factors.

Congrats on getting honors.

I don't know how it is there, but it was definitely worth it for me.

I don't see anything wrong with your Japanese, but without surrounding the text, kanji sometimes look wrong. For example, η›΄εΎ„ and η›΄εΎ„ are the same characters rendered for Japanese and simplified Chinese, respectively.

So it's garage sale season.

Why the hell is mom dragging her fucking feet for a SECOND year getting this shit together? It was supposed to be for this week, but we're nowhere near ready, and might have to do it next week.

BUT NOT NEXT WEEK OH NO. Because there happens to be a town garage sale that day. Seems stupid that I don't want to sign up for that, but $20 per table? No thanks.

UGH.

So the earliest we can actually do this is the weekend before my birthday, two weeks from now.

I'm becoming increasingly anxious now ... there's a really high chance that I'll get at least one more response next week. Or at least the financial aid info at the one that already accepted me.

NYU starts sending responses on Tuesday. I hope I get adequate financial aid.

Was up last night and had the urge to run MalwareBytes on my parents' computers. Stopped them both after two and a half hours, but I made sure everything of importance was scanned. Dad's went away with one, which is more or less okay. Not perfect, but you know how that goes. Mom's had a massive 163, nearly all of it from this coupon program.

The most EPIC thing happened today

I got an email telling me that I got into GEORGETOWN UNIVERSITY My number one choice! And I'm in! The suspense is over; I'm going back to college!

The beginning of the email:

It gives me great pleasure to inform you that the Committee on Admissions has voted to accept your application for transfer admission to Georgetown University. I am happy to offer you a place in the class beginning in the fall of 2012.

You are to be congratulated on your acceptance in a very competitive process. This year, Georgetown's Admissions Committees considered over 2,000 transfer candidates for approximately 170 spaces.
