Also, an iOS and Android version has been confirmed. Both are slated to hit at some point in "winter 2012," according to Andriasang.

It goes on to say that the mobile version may not have the same gameplay as the PC/Vita versions, but that's fine with me. I enjoyed PSO on my Dreamcast, Gamecube, and PC. Can't wait for more information to be released.

Just checked the news right now. This is an odd case of making one of Sega's best online games and turning a true sequel into free to play material. I'll be looking forward to PSO2 on the PC in the future.

"one of Sega's best online games"? They had like three. Two of them are already free to play, and the third died like 5 years ago (living on only because private servers... let you play for free).

The game's a lot of fun so far! I'm very happy it's going to be free to play; it sounds like they're planning on handling the cash shop stuff fairly similarly to PSPo2, where it's just aesthetic items (room decorations and clothing/parts/hairstyles) and fairly mediocre weapons. Considering they make a killing on PSU with people buying cash shop clothing, this should work quite well.

My main worry about the game is whether they're going to dripfeed content as bad as they did with PSU. That game suffered horribly when it was first launched.

I'm definitely getting this if I can. I loved PSO, even though I only got to play it on the GameCube. Hopefully, I'll have the hardware to play it when it comes out.

I bought a Dreamcast and the modem just so that I could play PSO. I tried to get a broadband adapter but nobody carried them, so I was stuck using 56k. We had broadband internet so my parents didn't want to pay for dial up, too. My brother and I just created loads of free trial accounts with NetZero that would have like 10 hours each.

I finally got a chance to watch the video last night (work blocks Youtube), and it was awesome. The music, setting, and characters are just as I remember. Hopefully the graphics in game are close to the cinematics there.

I played the original on Gamecube for 480 hours. We'll see if this one lives up to my endless memories or not.
