Finally, we can hit the button that says 'reticulating splines' once more.

Now there appears to be a feature that literally makes a SimNation (And SimEarth?) by users cities impacting each other. I can't wait to see how this can be successfully implemented, considering they plan to have climate change be a factor, since the SimNation would be affected by decisions made from individual users.

I've a feeling the first day the SimNationEarth is going to go right down the crapper because people are dicks.

I have a feeling it will not be that great.

Maybe it is EA. Maybe it is something else.

EA will screw it up. They're good at that. They won't be getting my money, regardless of how good/bad SC5 ends up being. Especially since they'll make it an Origin exclusive and have all kinds of stupid in-game DLC like they've been doing with Sims 3.

Besides, I still have SimCity 2000, and that was the best thing Maxis ever made.

I think it's bad that I totally remember SimCity 2000 and me playing it on my school's computer when I was in elementary school.

I remember it being good, but it was, frankly, boring to a 7 years old kid who's addicted to playing outside.

I never played anything post-2000, but I remember really really wanting 3000 at the time.

Maybe it'll be good, though I doubt I'll end up playing this one either... the SimNation thing sounds interesting, at least.

That SimNation thing sounds awesome... so long as you can run it only between friends, and not Joe Schmoe down the street.

Cities impacting other cities?

Shit, EA has caught onto the first step of my Sim City/GTA crossover MMO.

The easy test: If it conforms to classic Sim-City gameplay and/or is developed by some of the original people.

If it doesn't do both of those, it's probably not really worth bothering with.

Hopefully it's not just some cheesy social networking type of interaction between cities.

I don't have much faith with EA's ability to produce a good simcity game not bogged down with microtransaction crap.

Besides, I still have Simcity SNES and Simcity 2k. All I'll EVER need

The easier test:
Is it SimCity Societies?
If yes, it sucks.
If no, ALL OF MY/YOUR/OUR MONEY.

You know what, this is making me want to make a rom hack of Simcity SNES.

I don't know what I'd DO with it. Just that I'd do it...

Please, please, please somehow add bus stops and subway lines, or extend the map size.

Unfortunately, those aren't particularly possible. the SNES doesn't have the available processing power or memory for that.

Especially as I'd have no idea how the sim actually calculates congestion and the things like that. Subways you could probably futz by hooking it up to the train network, but not in any way like Sim City 2k without considerable work.

I think SCSNES just used local population density; I noticed that downtown roads used to get congested all the times but key roads between areas never seemed to be congested when they ought to be.

Then again, I always just used railroads everywhere so
