I think we should have a thread for the primaries in general ... there are a lot of small happenings that are nice to talk about but probably don't deserve their own thread. Especially now with the Michigan and Arizona primaries coming up (Feb 28), and Super Tuesday being just a week away (March 6).

Now for a video of Romney trying to appeal to Michigan voters:

I'd rather see Romney win than Santorum.

Then again, I'd rather see just about anyone win than Santorum.

I just want to see Santorum win because of the fact that his name got urban dictionary'd.

I can't bring myself to click any of those names, because it would feel like I'm voting for them.

I guess Romney's the least horrifying one?

Ron Paul's libertarianism is fascinating on a philosophical level (and would be even more if he was actually consistent about it!), but I really don't think it'd work in real life, and there's always that matter of those newsletters. Everyone else... brrr.

I KNEW his name sounded sexual!

...Yeeaaah, I can't bring myself to participate in this poll, for basically the same reasons as BMF. u_u

Same.

I think Romney's the least batshit of the 4, but they're all pretty bad.

They're all varying degrees of bugfuck insane, but sadly, that seems to be what the Republican base is looking for. I mean, these are the people who cheered when a question was asked at a Republican debate that suggested someone should be left to die because he didn't have insurance.

So, honestly?

I'd say Santorum's probably going to win the nomination.

Well, I identify as a Libertarian (pre-registered Republican right now, though), so I'm supporting Ron Paul (although I won't be 18 until the general election in November). The poll asks who I think will win, though, so I say Romney. Honestly, Santorum's recent pulling ahead terrifies me a lot. I think Obama will probably win the real election, though.

I'm not voting at all this year.

I don't like any of these candidates, nor do I think Obama is the right choice.

Go voter apathy.

To be honest, the crazier the nomination, the more likely Obama's going to win.

NOW WATCH AS MY PREDICTION FUCKS UP WITHIN ITSELF.

Obama has his flaws, but he's better than any of the Pubbies.

Would be nice if the US had a viable true liberal party, though. I strongly disagree with concepts that almost all US politicians support, such as the idea that richer people "deserve" better healthcare.

Congrats for actively contributing to the problem.

If you don't like either of the main candidates, at least care enough to vote for somebody who tickles your fancy. The people you're apathetic about are the ones who benefit most FROM your apathy.

I don't care which Republican chucklefuck gets the nomination - They're all crazy. I'll vote for another four Obama years.

Fine, I'll write in somebody.

Who's that nutjob who keeps running what seems like every four years?

Tomorrow is Super Tuesday. Nate Silver's projections include:

Georgia: Gingrich
Massachussetts: Romney
Ohio: Tossup
Oklahoma: Santorum
Tennessee: Santorum
Wisconsin: Santorum
Virginia: Romney

I think Santorum can only hope to win the primaries if he can win those 3 states plus Ohio. We'll see...

Santorum NEEDS a state with a lot of delegates. So he'll probably need a victory in Ohio to have any chance. (I'm guessing that's how it works?).

Edit - Derp, I know I basically said what you said, but I'm trying to emphasize Ohio's importance. He can probably afford to lose one of the three you mentioned, but he needs at least two and Ohio.

Mitt Romney is the least of the evils, but do we really want a baseball glove or an amphibian in office?

legacyme3: Ralph Nader perhaps? He's run every year since I think 1996...
