Hey guys,
I am an old-time user of Acmlm-board and as we all did I fell in love and no other forum system feels like home ;(

I am starting up a Dota2 league project for the Reddit community, and am very interested in using a AcmlmBoard or derivative for the site. I plan to mod it and add support for hosting tournaments etc with the BinaryBeast API.

I am aware of ABXD and went ahead and installed that for now, but this does seem to be the most popular and complete Acmlmboard clone still in existance. Any chance the source is available?

The problem right now is that this board is still very heavily customized, with lots of Jul-specific code in place. Some work was being done to clean up the code and make it usable elsewhere, but I'm not really sure how far that project got.

That's because it's not a clone and is still based off the original 1.a2 (or such).
Check out the Github repo or one of its forks!

Hmm interesting. I'll checkout the repo and see what the code looks like. I've gotten quite a bit of functionality added to the ABXD admin panel so I may just stick with that for now.

I think I might have to start frequenting this board though, feels nice

ABXD is an ok board system to base your things off of. I think that it's very aesthetically pleasing, and newbie friendly. The installation is also easy as pie. However, I've heard of a few holes inside the software. That said, ABXD is still a fairly unknown software, and I only know a handful of people that can exploit these holes. This is from personal experience, by the way; I've had my own ABXD-based board hacked before, but that's a waaaaaay different story. If you decide to go through with ABXD, I think you aught to ask around for some of the holes and their fixes.

As far as Jul's source goes... I've set up my own playground to mess around with, test out possible themes, etc. The source is not straight out of the box by any means. You should be familiar with databases and have a grasp on basic HTML/CSS before you start working with it. In addition, don't forget to remove the ads and other Jul-based stuff before you decide to use it.

If you need help, there's tons of people who know about it in IRC or you can simply ask in the thread.

Honestly, it's just not worth it. I'm sure Xkeeper has done an excellent job working on the the board's source.

However, everything he hasn't worked on is a mess. There is a lot of code that dates as far back as the earlier versions. These versions being about 10 years old. If you know a good bit of PHP, you can manage, obviously.

Just don't expect most of the core stuff to be documented, and some things just don't make any sense.

Ahem. My only problems with Jul so far has been activity/motivation. Looks and works nice, though.
