Also- Victory is supposed to be depressing, but after a while the sheer number of characters who show up, introduce themselves, and die horribly is kinda funny. "Okay, so we have a name. Now... guillotine? Crushing? Explosion? How are you going to die?" Eventually you just expect anyone with a name to die pointlessly, painfully, and soon. ____________________ |

Finished Victory. Angel Halo is fucking terrifying; managed to cross from dramatic to funny back to dramatic with the bodycount, which is impressive! (On a related note: Victory's credits were clearly done by people who had never watched an episode of the show; it's hilarious how upbeat they are when the series itself is this bloodbath.)
Probably going to wrap up the OVAs next- 0083 and the MSIGLOO stuff. Then G? After the last of the 0079 OVAs and G Gundam I'll just have the dregs of the franchise, really- SEED, 00 (I hear the movie is supposed to be really, really awful?) and Endless Waltz. ____________________ |

I watched everything else subbed! It didn't pose too much of a problem.
G Gundam is hilarious sometimes, but it doesn't keep up the same fever pitch of insanity the whole way through; it spends too much time attempting to treat its subject matter with just the teensiest bit of seriousness, and that ruins the whole show. I have MSIGLOO left (all of it) and then I'm out of UC until Unicorn 5 hits. Supposedly MSIGLOO is really good, and I'm willing to believe that. Still looks like a PS2 JRPG cutscene. Once that's done with- Endless Waltz is a Wing sequel, which automatically makes me suspicious of it. I know I watched every episode of Gundam Wing, but I can't recall a single plot point; it's just so BLAND. SEED is supposedly an average series with a really, really horrid sequel, right? And shitty animation, but it can't outdo 0079 in that regard. 00- I understand the series is a subject of mixed opinions, but the movie is unanimously agreed to suck hard. Which of these should be next? Don't say AGE; I don't intend to watch it until it's finished airing. Supposedly it sucks anyway. And because I know you all care so much, here is Afti's Gundam Ranking, compiled from what I've seen so far: Best Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam Mobile Suit Gundam 0083: Stardust Memory Turn A Gundam Mobile Suit Gundam 0080: War in the Pocket Mobile Suit Gundam: The 08th MS Team Mobile Suit Gundam Mobile Suit Gundam: Char's Counterattack Mobile Suit Victory Gundam Everything above this line is good to excellent and should absolutely be watched After War Gundam X Everything below this line is bad, and I would not recommend watching any of these Mobile Suit Gundam F91 Mobile Suit Gundam ZZ Mobile Fighter G Gundam New Mobile Report Gundam Wing Worst Feel free to recommend non-Gundam; this should help you to get an idea of what series I might like. Unicorn isn't finished yet, but it'll probably be up there with the 90's OVAs if it doesn't go anywhere stupid with its plot. I really wish F91 had been a series like it was supposed to; there are traces of something interesting there. But it's just so hopelessly muddled- 14 episodes cut into one movie, without 0079's pacing issues, result in something absolutely unwatchable. I'd watch F91 produced as a series in a heartbeat, but I really can't say much good about what we got. ZZ would be an acceptable series if the first 20 or so episodes were cut into four or five; it just drags on WAY too long with no plot to speak of. That, and the ZZ is a terrible mech design! ____________________ |

| I don't know... I thought Seed/Destiny were okay, somewhat, though I'll admit I haven't watched too much of either of them.
And it's been years since I watched F-91, so... damn it, now I'm going to have to pull out the tapes and watch it again. Thanks a lot, Afti. And 0080 and 0083, too. Nobody tell me I need to re-watch Char's Counterattack, please. 
(And, I'll probably have to actually, finally get around to watching Shin Mazinger, too.) Well, I've been re-watching Macross, lately (though I haven't felt like pulling out Love: Do You Remember, just yet (OR Clash of the Bionoids, for no sane reason)). Judges, does that count? |

| You don't have to start from the very beginning. You could try 0083 and/or 0080, for a start.
I'll admit that another reason I'm watching Macross is because I needed an excuse to actually watch the Southern Cross+Mospeada ADV box set I picked up... damn, can't remember how long ago it was, but it wasn't long after its release. ...then I remembered, I'm supposed to be getting around to rewatching Bubblegum Crisis, too.  |

∀ is theoretically independent of every other series, but in practice is best watched as late as possible. The more series you see first, the more you'll appreciate it.
I can't recommend it highly enough, though- it falls outside of the UC "canon", but it's one of Tomino's best works. Also has a Gundam designed by Syd Motherfucking Mead.  ____________________ |
