A half-gallon rice cooker is pretty groovy, if you're running a small restaurant or have a ten-person household that is. But we're not in pre-One-child policy China anymore, so most of the time my rice turns out to be a thin little tiny layer on the bottom. That's okay, though, because I remembered my grandmother had the world's tiniest rice cooker in her apartment.

Enter the 6-cup pot-style Aroma-brand rice cooker. This is probably an old model from the 80s because it doesn't even have a "keep warm" option. That's okay because we store all the leftovers in the fridge almost immediately.

I know my grandmother's got a rice cooker, but we've only brought it out once that I know of. That was when I was making my own homemade California rolls with the cheap imitation crab meat.

I need to make that again, I love how I make those.

We don't have a rice cooker at all- I think on those occasions we have rice, my mother makes it in the microwave.

That's actually how I ended up doing it too before I found out my grandmother had a rice cooker.

Unfortunately, I forget now the water to rice ratio I figured out how to do to get the rice sticky enough. Damn.

I prefer non-sticky rice myself with either soy sauce or some sort of gravy/au jus.

Meatballs and rice with gravy is delish.

Gravy rice is a comfort food favorite in my family. It's one of the best parts of eating steak back home. If the rice is a little dry, it absorbs all the sauce and becomes super-tasty.

I'm starting to appreciate sticky rice, though, especially when it's enough for you to pick up clumps with your chopsticks. All you need is a nice egg fried in a wok and drizzled with soy sauce and then served on top of the rice with some green onions. Now that is a treat.

Aside from the green onions part, that actually sounds really good.

I'd eat the green onions but I get sick if I can even remotely taste them. :/

I just love my new blanket right now. Not because it is warm (though I give it that).

But I can actually feel its weight and that's somehow soothing? I dunno, but not having to rely on as many Xanax is probably a good thing.

I understand what you mean. I'm the kind of guy who likes to have a ton of blankets to sleep under.

I got like...five of them on my bed right now. XD;

Kiri Komori

...I have trouble sleeping without my two blankets, even when I'm totally roasting under them. I'm hesitant to add more, because I know I won't want to remove them when summer comes around.

I have one thick blanket and one thin one.

In the winter, both of them have to be on. In the summer? The thin one if it's not extremely humid. If it is... no blankets necessary or I'll be sweating bullets.

Pretty much this.

Also due to recent revelations have a very strong urge to stop taking my medicine altogether because not feeling shit sucks. On the other hand, so is spiraling out of control. Hnnnnnng, what to do?

Reasons like that led my mother not only to eschew that sort of medicine, but advocate controlling those things through sheer force of will.

It isn't for everybody though, and it doesn't always work. People like me only get away with it because it's my anger which spirals out of control instead of the other stuff. I might do something nasty to someone else but usually it doesn't threaten me all that much.

Actually can be an advantage to me, given people try to threaten me and I fly off the handle and turn the tables on them... then they run away.

...Anyway, back to you, as opposed to me. Uhhh... I think any discontinuing should probably be done in as controlled and therapist or otherwise supervised manner as possible. As much as I and my Mom don't believe in those medicines, they also alter your brain chemistry in various ways. It's probably not a good idea to just drop it completely after taking so much for so long.

Um...
You want supervision from your therapist, yes. One thing you really don't want to do is to play around with substances that mess with your head, and that includes abrupt changes in their use.

It basically would result in a drastic change for what your body is used to that would be unpredictable and from how you describe "spiraling out of control", perhaps dangerous.

Still, from your situation you should talk it to your therapist anyway. "Not feeling shit" isn't good either, obviously.

I've decided to go over my psychiatrist's head here and cut back to 100mg. Though I am being cautious and will have to step down to 150mg first.

Not only does Zoloft feel like a shitton of side effects at its maximum dose, but it just feels that said doctor just wants to keep adjusting said medication every single month or switch entirely after only a single month into another bump up. My last psychiatrist only added a new prescription to help with the anxiety piece of my issues, but I think he also bumped up my Prozac medication once, and that was only up to the standard minimum 20mg. not to mention that I spend 45 minutes in the waiting room for an appointment that lasts for no longer than 3 minutes, versus 30-45 minute wait, but with appointments lasting about 15 minutes or more.

I honestly just hate my current doctor, and I think I'll start searching for a new one. This new one just doesn't know the meaning of waiting patiently, or that I'm not going to mention any side effects if my mom is being invited into my appointment.

Yes, it's probably best to have a doctor who is suited to you, rather than one who makes things worse.

To be fair, though, I wouldn't be surprised that, considering he's either of middle eastern or Indian descent, at least the part where he has my mom come into my appointment that it's a cultural thing. Possibly.

But yeah considering all he does is increase my doasge (or suggests to) every appointment we have, including changing my meds from something that worked decently enough at a low dosage to keep me from being emotionless and lacking motivation to a medicine that he has raised it as high as possible and feeling like a zombie.

Considering I'm three doses in with my self-adjustment, I'm doing fine overall (minus those weird as fuck surges that may as well be an anxiety-based response) though I'll have to pay extra close attention in case everything goes to hell.

Essentially, what good is feeling better when your friends think of yourself as being disinterested in everything that I otherwise like? I know that i get depressed and anxious, even when I was on Prozac, but I was still me. And combined with either Klonopin or Xanax with a small dose of Zoloft (as I admit is pretty effective at a small dose) would probably be the best to keep any and all insanity at bay, but maintain who I really am and be able to effectively work on my issues so I wouldn't need the medicine anymore.

Oh God I planned this post to be short.

My ironic Super Bowl party is tomorrow. We're going to have sushi and negiyaki and tempura shrimp and veggies and Riesling wine—that's wine, not ウィネ.

No chips, dip, Buffalo wings or pizza.

Now I must decide what more things to do with my limited Weekend time... oh yes... I must work on my requirements document, that's what I have to do.
