I should get to bed soon. Tomorrow we're going to Otronicon and I don't want to sleep in!

My grandma's in the hospital, again.
At least it's not all bad? She got a procedure done to stop fluid from collecting in her lungs.

Best night ever. My cunle is awesome!

...I'm not the only one that did a double take at that line, right?

Hope she has a quick recovery

Went and saw her today, she's more like herself than I've seen her in quite a while.

Also woo! Housesitting for my aunt and uncle while they're in California with their family. With their gigantic TV and PS3.

Oh man, Otronicon was great! The simulations and stuff were fun, and the fact that it was held at a science center made it even better. Animals and telescopes and gravity and all kinds of stuff!

My friend's and family are out getting drunk tonight. Kinda wish I wasn't stuck up here instead.

EDIT: This is what they're drinking.

From Wikipedia: OP Anderson Aquavit is Sweden’s oldest aquavit, with a well balanced flavor of cumin , anise and fennel , and oak character

Uh. Not missing it so much anymore.

EDIT2: Aaaand my mom was sick enough to clog the toilet. There was too much information before, but..

Urgh, I'm packing for my trip back to Virginia for school and it turns out I still have checks from Christmas I haven't cashed... honestly, though I don't want to complain about people who give me money, but checks are kind of inconvenient...

Today was an interesting day. Out of bed at 3:30, brother made some kind of curry stuff for dinner, we watched the French animated film The Illusionist, and I was miserable with sickness the whole time.

Can you deposit them at an ATM?

I mean, I don't like cashing checks either, but... there are ways to do it with minimal fuss.

Sleeping should be interesting, I suppose.

I can, but the main annoyance is that my bank (Bank of America) doesn't have any convenient ATMs near my campus. (Of course, the only reason I still use them is that they claimed to, but I haven't been able to find them yet )

...Switch banks?

I would think that BOA ATM's would be fairly plentiful in the States.

As far as I can tell, Bank of America is literally the only bank with branches *at all* in Massachusetts and Virginia, let alone the parts of those states I care about.

Man, that took forever to set up, but I now have an Acmlmboard running. With a custom modification of my own (small, but useful: the "[last post] by <name>" on the board index is now prefixed by "in <thread title with link>").

Watch as I never transition the SMF forums over to the Acmlmboard EVER.

I dunno how to explain it, but today was a good day.

-I ate good food
-I had fun with cool people
-I had more fun with more cool people
-I had a lack of responsibility

All in all, a really good day that I really needed.

Yesterday my friend called me and came out to me as a hipster. He told me he didn't even realize it but his friend pointed it out the other day and he started thinking about how he used to shop, way before it was cool, at the Urban Outfitters down in Harvard. How he listened to music no one else listened to and liked it. How his favorite Marvel superheroes were the ones that no one heard of.

How the day after his grandparents died, he took their dirty old flannel button-ups and wore them until they wore out.

"Yeah," I said into the phone, "I know exactly what you mean." I told him I always secretly knew but never told him because I wanted to wait for him to be ready. Then I offered to take him to a local music concert in Allston. We could go to all the wonderful secondhand stores. We could eat at the organic vegan Asian restaurants down in Union Square.

He said, "I'm not sure I'm ready for that yet."
