I nominate we make the move to stardates. Swatch is too hipster.

Starting all posts with "captain's log stardate" would remind me too much of chris chan videos. :p

Swatch would have probably been more useful if the smallest unit wasn't nearly a minute and a half long.

Know what would be much better? Four-digit hex numbers! The smallest unit being about 1.3 seconds!

So THAT'S what the funny timestamps are all about!

I was incredibly confused, presuming that the board had exploded violently.

I'm pretty sure it's displaying the hex time as a Unicode character there too. That's... painfully cool. It even has a JSON API!

Technically, that's the hex time as a UTF-16 character; you'll never see Phoenician or Deseret letters on there.

Obviously I need a clock that separates the day into 1,114,112 units.

Metric time! There are 100 seconds in 1 minute, 100 minutes in 1 hour and 10 hours in 1 day.

Edit:
So this system would be based around days. Midnight would be 0.0, and lunch would be at 0.5. 12:30 PM would equate to 0.55, which is 50 millidays past 5 decidays. 5d75m would be 12:45 PM, and would be incredibly confusing to anyone who wasn't aware of the system.

If you want to use centidays to measure time, you'd have a two digit number which represents a granularity of around 15 minutes, which sounds kinda nice when you think about it. If your meeting is at .77c today, then it takes place at roughly 6:30 PM.
