After about 6 tries I finally got it to start printing by feeding paper in manually, because otherwise it assumes it's empty. It sucked in 2 sheets at once, printing half on the first and half on the second. Great, so now I'm standing there sticking in sheets of paper one at a time. Third one for no apparent reason jams way the fuck up in there. Now this thing has no manual feed, let alone reverse feed, so the only ways to get it out are to either pull it out (fail'd) or tear the fucking thing open (held together with some stupid fucking proprietary screw, of course). It has for all intents and purposes self-destructed. AWESOME. >: And don't even get me started on the shitastic software. Guys, never, ever, EVER buy anything from HP.

Aren't there any printers in existence that aren't total shit? Because I have yet to see one.

Also, anyone want to buy a scanner?

You are incredibly good at destroying whatever you own, because any HP thing I end up buying lasts for a long, long time.

Yes, even the printer.

I can never understand all the problems you seem to have with these things...

You expect a guy called HyperHacker to use his peripherals as exactly intended?

Yep! Try using an HP Deskjet. I currently use an HP Deskjet 6940, and it works great for me.

Don't use the HP Deskjet 3820. I used to use one, until it broke. Turns out, it has a notorious problem where a plastic gear (or something) would break inside, rendering the printer completely unusable until either fixed or discarded. I had it for YEARS though, so yeah, it just got old.

Or maybe you're just lucky and/or hardly use them? I assure you, the only things I ever did with it was print and scan as normal. (What else is there to do with a printer that doesn't involve disassembling it anyway? )

For that matter, it's not just mine. It's every printer I've ever seen.

I really hope you're not referring solely to printers you see at schools and public places. Those tend to be really crappy, so you may be getting the wrong impression.

I also have a HP printer, but except for pulling two sheets at once (I just give it one sheet so it can't do that...) it works very well.

Do you have anything that works as expected? Besides Nintendo branded things?

I have an HP Officejet (Laserjet?) 3100. It used to pull in multiple sheets at once. However, HP issued a fix for it. I installed it and it rarely pulls in multiple sheets. With the exception of the fact that the printer only works for Windows 98/2k because of required installation of software, the printer has worked wonderfully.

Everything works exactly as he expects it to. That is, it doesn't.

I have a ridiculous amount of HP stuff in my house, all works fine.

(I have a deskjet 3650, which is, yes, old, and works quite well)

My laptop and printer are HP . I haven't had any problems with either of them though so I must be doing something right.

Sure. Most of my stuff, really. For the most part it's printers, old computers (generally just dusty/worn out), software (I run Windows ), and routers (usually cheap junk) that I have trouble with.

I had an old HP deskjet that's quite a few years old. I'm pretty sure it still works, too. It also worked beautifully under Linux, as well..

Eh, I have an Epson printer right now (CX5800F) and it works fine except for two things:
1) Tiny ink carts
2) If even one ink cart is out, it won't print anything at all in any color until the empty one is replaced.
But eh.

I don't know why I put this here.
> Puny Inkjet printers

The ones I had lasted a collective 12 years before dying, after relentlessly printing hundreds of thousands of pages.

I could repair them too, in fact I may some day, the parts are freely available and they encourage user repair.

I have an HP Laserjet 5P here that we've had for at the very least ten years, almost certainly longer, that still works perfectly... Recently we replaced our crappy Epson printer with an HP Deskjet model which has worked much better as well- from my experience HP Printers are the best ones.

But I bet it doesn't print in colour.

Those big ones like you see in hospitals and the like are about the only ones I do see working properly, but they must be expensive.
