I've never done that although I do have an NES multicart with a hacked version of SMB on it that will let you start the game from any world, including ones that aren't supposed to exist.

One summer, my N64's SM64 bugged out. Mario melted under the stage, disturbing glitched music played and the game slowly slowed down as Mario slowly melted.

Because I'm insane, it didn't scare me, but it was pretty freaky.

Ooh, Hazy Maze Cave has enough things that scare you as a child:

* The huge pit
* The rolling boulders

OoT's boulder maze kinda aggravated me, but that's because I couldn't figure it out and I thought it was going to kill me instantly.

Seriously, whenever I was in World 6 I always tried to get at least Lift Castle. That one also sucks but has no instant death traps, at least!

I was scared of those slimy things in Yoshi's Island 5-4 that hang from the ceiling and swing back and forth.

Actually, all of 5-4 pretty much gave me the creeps.

The only thing that really ever freaked me out in games was lava, actually, believe it or not. Of course, it's a common theme.

I was freaked out by some bosses in Kirby's Adventure, too. The one that gives you BackDrop (I don't know the enemy names, sorry) really scared me, how he'd totally abuse Kirby like that. Poor Kirby

I hate bugs too. Also: worms, slugs (especially the giant ones around here), snails, grubs, or anything else that frogs eat
