I use WinXP because it's cheap and simple (and is actually a semi-good windows OS (Vista is just crap)).
I would get a Mac but after looking at one (yesterday actually, at my uncle's house) it's rather lacking in a few areas like multi-button mice (although he had a version that was a few years old, it might be better now).
Linux is just .

You can use multi-button mice with OSX, I believe.

I use Windows XP now but I've tried the latest Ubuntu, Gutsy Gibbon, from a live CD. It actually had sound and didn't hang on the PCMCIA slots.

*KyoufuKitty was impressed.

I dual-boot Vista and Ubuntu Feisty Fawn 7.04 on my laptop. I use it because it's the only one I was able to get running perfectly on my laptop with its obscure hardware (thanks, Dell). Some kind Ubuntu user out there was nice enough to make a package that makes 7.04 work with my laptop model, so all I had to do was download, install, and be amazed as my sound, graphics card, and wireless card suddenly began working.

I prefer Windows, though, because it Works for everything I need it for - without jumping through unnecessary hoops (such as making the multimedia keys actually do something).

Oh yes, and Winamp. I have yet to find a good replacement that works on Linux.

WinAmp runs under WINE, doesn't it? I realize WINE isn't the best solution out there, but how much speedy processing do you really need for music?

The right mouse-button on my Dell gives me the right click menu. Yes, my dell boots OSX from a USB laptop drive.

Almost. Installation took a VERY long time(5+ hours). But after that elaborate install, I enjoyed it the entire time.

One advantage of Linux is that it's free.

That being said, 2000 suits my current needs fine. I probably won't switch to Linux unless I get another computer.

lol. Must not have looked for very long

Actually probably the only reason it isn't all the rage anymore, is that iTunes clones seem to be the latest music player fad.
