I feel that my older Yahoo! mail account is being targeted by bots everywhere for Viagra, USPS Delivery Failure, and Canadian Pharmacy scams, while my new one is rarely being spammed. I don't give the address to anyone on both accounts nor do I even use it anymore. It's like every single bot knows my old email address and is pulling the shit over and over while reporting them does nothing to stop them.

I'm also getting Messenger invites from unknown people (seen when I check my mail, probably bots) and I don't like having to block every random person. I don't even use Yahoo! Messenger to begin with.

All I'm figuring out is how to get the bots off my back, and permanently. I've contacted Yahoo! about the problem it's having, but I haven't gotten a reply by them. I'm not willing to pay for any anti-spam crap either and I'm stuck as a free user for the mail account, so I can't use third-party programs such as Thunderbird. I don't care if it's in the Inbox or Spam folders; I just don't want to receive anything from random bots anymore.

Paulguy's Post configuration
Probably nothing you can do about them. It's just some russians hoping you'll install their key logger so they can steal your credit card and bank information.

Ignore the messenger invites (I ended up ditching YIM/MSN due to spambots), and as for email... well, are they going to your main inbox?

If you're not entirely against switching email addresses, I'd suggest taking a look at Gmail. Since 2004, I can count the number of times spam emails have hit my main inbox on one hand.

A tip for messenger issues:

Random full names that you don't recognize... block those outright. Almost no good can come from such names.

Welcome to the wonderful world of email.

Spambots will find your address no matter what you do, and short of spam filters (or a better email service) there is nothing you can do to stop them. Sorry to break it to you.

It's best to switch to an email service which has an anti-spam system.

You can even configure your Yahoo email to forward to such, so you still get email--and your new thing filters out the spam.

Hmm, I know what you mean, I started my gmail in 2004, ever since then I have gotten over 9000 spam emails from people I dont even know from god knows where.
I somewhat fixed that problem by going directly to the source and pull up their telephone number and had them stop within 12 hours.
Mostly I see is less than 2000, its better than what it used to be. :|
