...I have new info.

Internet Explorer has that Diagnose Connection Problems link on it, and from it, I can get these;

The first one is the homepage, the other one being its default site check.

Now, before anyone says anything, I know noting about what DNS is. I'm just that bad.
Now, saying it was you living here, what would you do (besides getting a wire connection? The modem knows not about Vista, and my mom's using it already. So, no go)

Is not using Vista an option.

Update your wireless card drivers.

Make sure your wireless access point isn't a POS.

Seems not.

Does that use cash? Because there is none. (Don't see how else...)

It's a personal D-Link WBR-2310 Router. Guess I should've restated.

No, you'd just get them from the manufacturer's web site.

DNS tells your computer the IP address of a domain name, so maybe this will work.

And with intellegence like mine, I get confused until I stop and make cracks for an underground river + skylight to run from point A to B.
So "www.google.com" autofeeds to "74.125.19.104", meaning that if I can find out how to find IPs for sites and go through them like that, I'll be both more intellegent (but not by much) and fine as far as this problem goes.

Oh, and the last update for my wireless adapter was last February. And since I know I updated it when I first could, that's a no go.

(Where to go from here?)

If that works then the next question is why is it able to view pages but not able to reach DNS? Do wired connections work?

We can't get dial-up anymore (we switched to DSL) and the DSL Modem cannot be used with Vista.

Hm? Unless it's a modem that actually gets installed inside the computer, there shouldn't be any reason Vista can't talk to it. Maybe the software won't install, but that shouldn't be necessary.

If your wireless connection is getting through to everything except DNS just fine, it's very unlikely to be a problem with the connection itself. The problem must lie with either the computer, the router/modem, or the ISP. Can you check the router's configuration for bad DNS entries? Do other machines have the same problem?

The modem has to be installed via CD which was made aout a year ago, when Vista wasn't around. It can't install to Vista.

Also, here's the options in the router:

Setup
- Internet
- Wireless Settings
- Network Settings
Advanced
- Virtual Server
- Port Forwarding
- Application Rules
- Network Filter
- Website Filter
- Firewall Settings
- Advanced Wireless
- Advanced Network
Tools
- Admin
- Time
- System
- Firmware
- DDNS
- System Check
- Schedules
- Log Settings
Status
- Device Info
- Log
- Stats
- Wireless
Support
- Menu

I don't see a regular DNS setting in there. (And DDNS isn't a typo, that's the game server thing.)

And it's probably my computer, yeah, since I can access the internet with my Wii.
(What do you expect, my life is filled with human bugs and roulette choices. Go figure.)

Is you router configured to act as a DNS-Server for your LAN?
If not, your ISP may be limiting the amount of Devices connected to the internet at any time and/or 24h.

If you can use the Modem without USB, but trough a Ethernet connection (Ethernet is common network standard, don't think about it), the CD won't be necessary.
If your router has more than one port for PCs, connect your Vista PC to one of those, and the Modem to the Uplink port.

Then try again.

Huh? I don't see that on here.

Not the problem, if I understood right. I can just have this computer and that one being the only connectors for 48 hours, and it still won't work. On the other hand, this computer, my DS, and my Wii can all work at the same time.

I tried hooking it up earlier in the year, and nothing happen. So that's a failed idea.
Also, how I do that with my current wire supply? I don't have anything that long.

Then try again.

Remember, I'm not a computer pro. More like a 27 of 100 skill level. (100 is best)

It'd probably be in Setup, but if other things are working, the problem would have to be the computer. Checked for viruses and spyware lately?

avast! Antivirus has scanned multiple times, and nothing has been detected (besides a password-locked zip file on my desktop, no longer there).
Also, by clicking Setup, you automatically go to its first category, Internet. (If you didn't understand that, I'm not blaming you.)

Internet Connection :
There are 2 ways to setup your Internet connection. You can use the Web-based Internet Connection Setup Wizard or you can manually configure the connection.

Internet Connection Wizard :
If you would like to utilize our easy to use Web-based Wizards to assist you in connecting your new D-Link Router to the Internet, as well as configure the Wireless settings, click on the Setup Wizard button below.
*button*
Note: Before launching these wizards, please make sure you have followed all steps outlined in the Quick Installation Guide included in the package.

Manual Internet Connection options :
If you would like to configure the Internet and Wireless settings of your new D-Link Router manually, then click on the Manual Configure button below.
*button*

And I'm sure neither of those will do it.

It would almost certainly be in Manual Internet Connection, but again, there's little reason to look there if other machines aren't having trouble.

Have you tried simply turning the router off and on again? I have to do that with mine all the time. (Just pull the plug if there isn't a switch on it.)

Yeah, that's what I used to do. But it all of a sudden didn't work when I did that, and I figured it was the same problem as before, during the summer. (Is there an old thread about it here or there? I can't recall...)

...I should probably try it again sooner or later...

EDIT--------------------------------------
It's later, I tried, and it didn't work.

...
...
.........
My wireless was murdered by a router.

(Also, I wanted to log in once the problem was fixed. Blasted no-aged double post rule...not even after a number of days...)
