So after messing around in shoutcast I managed to fix an working radio station on my compy that could be used for justus radio. Problem is that this comp cannot be on 24/ 7 but I do have an old computer that could be used for that after installing linux . So there is still some things to note.

1. Is there enough interest in this for me too go get an router and extra monitor and such for my soon to be linux box?

2. Would an average 700-900 Kbit/s upload speed be enough for this kind of thing?

3. Would there be anyone there to help with fixing up scripts for easy song uploading and the like?

Because if you can give an yes to all these questions then i could surely host it for you.

Of course there is the fact that my internet has been rather wonky as off late but i think i fixed it... Oh well only time will tell I guess.

Edit: I have an test radio up know so if anyone wants to test the sound quality and stuff feel free to pm me. I won't give out the server yet for security issues.

Edit: So no one cares if we can fix justus radio any longer?

Sounds like a great idea, go ahead and do it. I'm sure at least a few people will listen (especially if you include some good VG music ).
What kind of scripts would you need help with?

Yes. You know I want it.

I'll upload songs for it too.

Hell yeah. I wanted this too.

Depends...anything you allow to go outbound will be dedicated to the cause. If you have 10 people listening in on 32kbps of transfer, then you automatically lose 320kbps of your 700-900 upload. Something to keep in mind...

I would've been on this long ago but...you know...56K now...

That'd be pretty nice to have, actually. I'd probably listen to it occasionally, though... I have my own music.

But it'd suck for the dial-up users, huh?

I'm interested. I'd definately take a little time out of my playlist 'o VGM (maybe about 1 1/2 hrs listening time) to listen to Justus Radio.

Just don't get RIAA'd. :\

Nice to see that the response has been well.
So could any audiophiles tell me if 10 persons on 48Kbitps on mono would be an good choice of quality?

And when I said scripts I meant to automatically make people upload music to my server. It would of course have to be restricted to listeners or something.

That depends. What format? 48kbps MP3 = god no, but 48kbps AAC is tolerable. (Mono is fail though.)

Excuse me for being rather technically retarded but what's the difference between AAC and MP3?

They're two different formats, like GIF and JPEG.

Ah yes I figured that much but what's the difference in the formats? Does AAC have better encoding or something like that?

As I understand it, yes, 40kbps AAC is about equal to 128kbps MP3.

It's also FSCKING RADIO...do you think that radio has to be exceptionally high-quality? Besides, if people DON'T have the AAC encoder, they're not going to be able to listen whereas MP3 is a lot more common.

Sadly enough, 48kbps period would skip on most 56Ks. Guess who has one (me ).

I don't know why I put this here.
I hope you're more successful than the last people who tried this--people said a lot, but in the end, no radio was successfully broadcast.

You mean decoder? Winamp has that built in.
Radio or not, there's no reason in this day and age to play music in mono. It's just nasty and tends to completely ruin the sound. I listened to one of my favourite songs the other day through one speaker and it sounded like utter shit.

Stereo output + only one speaker usually means you only get one channel of sound, which can completely break songs.. Mono usually combines them so you don't have that effect.

So...
