The forums broke the link. Try this one. Not as direct, but should work.

Also, just noticed that there are no other command and conquer games on the wiki. I will have to remedy that in the future.

Edit: I just noticed there is an option to disable smilies just as I pressed the button to post this.

Is the link to Jul supposed to show in the Main menu box for every page on the wiki? For some reason, it's currently not appearing for me on any Special: page. I thought I'd recalled jumping to the forum a few times from RecentChanges, for one.

I've been having problems with the Jul link too. (On the main page, a refresh fixed it)

This should be fixed now.

Unfortunately, a few edits in a small timespan were deleted (not related to this fix). Nothing major, except that one of Pikmin 2 Demo subsections no longer exists. wah

Coming up next week on Rareware Central
An early prototype of Banjo-Kazooie: Grunty's Revenge

Apparently, there are a lot of differences, so it should be interesting to go through this version. The Beta Debug ROM released a few weeks ago seems to be similar to the final game, although it has its differences.

I stumbled upon this a while ago. It's a good read and video of an NBA Jam license pitch to the NBA in 1992.

I hope this is the right place to ask. I was wondering, if I want to conribute with screenshots on the Wiki pages, what is the best way of doing it for NES and do you have certain standards in place? The reason I am asking is because I have noticed that almost every screenshot from NES games on the Wiki are in 256x240 which causes a wrong aspect ratio when viewed under normal Windows resolutions that have square pixels, circles look like eggs etc.

Just wondering, where did you see images with a wrong aspect ratio? It seems like some dumb-minded emulator just stretched the image there.

Otherwise, there is a link to a standardized NES palette somewhere but to be honest I have no idea where it is. (we should make it more findable)

Images are uploaded at 256x240 because that is the actual output resolution of the NES (CRTs usually hide the top and bottom of the image, which is why emulators often use 256x224). They are not aspect-corrected because that would lead to unwanted blurring or pixel doubling, depending on the browser used. Besides, it's close enough that we really consider it a non-issue.

I think you got it wrong; the circles will actually look circular square-pixel land instead of slightly flattened like on the NES.

It depends on the game, really. Some devs actually took the aspect ratio into account when drawing the graphics, making things slightly taller than normal so they look correct on a TV.

Surprise! It's another prototype release from Rareware Central. This is the one release I've been waiting for:
The Banjo-Pilot Voxel Engine Prototype

I'm gonna have a ball next Saturday playing this one.

Oh, wow, that's really impressive for a GBA game. Shame it never got a proper release.

Why didn't more games use voxel technology?

Anyone know if these SMRPG text strings are used?

x's MAX HP up by y!

Monster became x!

If I'm not mistaken, the only way to boost a character's max HP is by leveling up, which would make the first string unused. The second one I'm not so sure about; does the game use that when monsters become confused/poisoned/etc. in battle? (I haven't played the game in a long time, in case you couldn't tell.)

You can give monsters fear/poison/mute status, but that is indicated by a graphic appearing next to the monster rather than a text string. (Fear = exclamation mark, Poison = poison cloud, mute = tiny sparkle falling down)
