I use XP. I have 128 Mega Bytes of RAM. I do not know what my graphics card is, or how to find out.

Do you have the latest version of TT64 0.09B?
Do you get low memory warnings?

Yes, I said that I have tried reinstalling toads tool about 100000000000 times.

And yes, I HAVE gotton low memory warnings, but I've never gotten one when running Toad's Tool.

Wait a second. I tried disableing some things in my taskbar and I got a little closer to getting this working. I'm still getting error messages, but I think I can fix that by reseting my computer or something. Thanks for the idea about low ram.

Yah, I have 128mb of ram as well, haven't had any low memory warning's.

I have the latest version of Toadstool. After loading the extended ROM the program doesn't automatically load the "Castle Grounds" like it is supposed to. If I try to load a map in the drop down menu, I get an object script error. The only map I can successfully load is the "Secret Aquarium". Still, I get script errors when trying to Save the rom, or use most of the Camera commands. I use DirectX 7 for the rendering.

Does this require the latest version of Macromedia Shockwave or Flash Player? I'm pretty sure my Direct X is up to date.

[Edit] Wait a second, the newest version was released on November 2007? If so, then I actually don't have that version. Downloading now, plus the latest version of Shockwave. We shall see if this fixes my problems.

Interesting. DirectX that XP uses needs at least 256MB of Ram.

Try OpenGL...

EDIT: Script Errors? Perhaps you have a corrupted ROM. Try re-obtaining it and try again. Is the Version number v0.5.9b?

Yah, I have version 0.5.9b, so it's not Toad's Tool. If it's the RAM I'll just purchase a 256mb on Ebay, no problem. My version of directX was a little old(6 months), but updating did nothing. I'm pretty sure you have to be right that it's a corrupt ROM, since it seems to load some level's and not others...I'll download from a different site next time.

Another thing I wanted to bring up. Does Toad's Tool cache something in a User folder on XP? The reason I'm asking is that on my User account, after I used TT a couple times and it crashed, all of a sudden I get a script error before the select rom screen pop's up. Restarting the computer doesn't help, and Replacing TT doesn't work either. However, it will work again if I log onto another user account on my computer.

Well there's the tt64prefs.txt file which is persistent. On Windows, it should be found inside the folder C:\Documents and Settings\YourUserName\Application Data\Macromedia\Director MX 2004\Toad's Tool 64 v0.5.9b\Prefs

Maybe the file is corrupted on your system? If you hold alt when clicking on the splashscreen, preferences will be reseted. But before you do that, copy the current tt64prefs.txt file somewhere else and upload it to me so I can take a look at it and see what's the problem. I'll add some more checks so that a corrupted pref file doesn't generate a script error.

One important note:

If you get a script error and press "continue" you'll only get more script errors which will be the result of bypassing the first one.

So if you get a script error before loading the ROM, then press continue, you can't expect the program to behave normally. In these cases, all subsequent errors are irrelevant in a bug report because they're more than likely linked to the fact that a previous script didn't execute completely.

Ok, I just checked out the tt64prefs.txt file. The file was blank and contained no data, 0kb. I guess it's because the program crashed while the preferences box was opened in TT.

As for the other part of my problem. I tried another ROM and got the same error. One thing I noticed is that there is no status bar when it say's "Loading object data". Which may be why I can only get the Secret Aquarium to load in both ROM's...

But did you remove this corrupted pref file? Or did you reset the preferences like I told you to?

I copied the corrupted/blank pref file to another folder in case you still needed it for something. Then I reset the preferences by holding ALt on the splashscreen like you said.

Hmm... What if you delete the pref file from inside the folder?

Whenever I start TT up from my desktp or straight from the folder it shows the picture of toad, then it goes black and says

list expected for handler

#count

Script Error.Continue?

Yes.......No

When I lick yes then try to open a rom it says it hasn't been extened but it has. I know a bit about hacking but not to much about the files within a program. I've re-downloaded toad's tool several times (about 13 now) and I still get this problem.

Can you help me out here?

Thanks!

I’m not 100% sure if it’s a bug or it’s just me but I think it’s a bug.. Okay im using the newest version of toad's tool I believe 0.5.9.

When I go to change textures everything is fine I save I exit then when I open toad's tool again it doesn’t display the texture changes I made but when I open the rom on an emu the textures I changed are there.

So if it’s a bug it’s an annoying one. Hope it gets fixed soon but no pressure take your time I know your busy =/

It's not a bug, it's a feature!

Actually, by default TT64 doesn't load textures from the ROM, it uses the original texture which are included in the program. That's because loading texture from ROM is a little slow in TT64.

If you go in the Preferences panel, and check the option "Load textures from ROM (Slower)", the next time you load a ROM, textures will be loaded from the ROM including any custom textures you may have created.

All 3 users on my computer are administrators. But TT64 only works on the user that when it was made it was an admin. The other two WERE standard until last week. I re-downloaded it and it still has the same problem.

So TT64 still works on the initial admin account?
