So played the new demo. First time with the game.
So much fun, I didn't want to stop.
I'm glad I preordered this afternoon.

When I first clicked on this thread I thought this would be the terrible sequel to 2006.

Glad to know I was wrong.

$30 on Steam screams "budget/rushed port" to me, but hopefully that's not the case.

System specs are steep though.

It's been talked about (and shown up on the Steam registry) as far back as June, plus they're actually using Steamworks, so maybe that means good things.

Which is why I'll save 30 bucks and not buy it a second time.

I'm getting it on PS3 when it's released. I honestly think this game will be good. I pray it is. I want to love Sonic again.

Not a PC guy. I've never really been able to get into computer gaming. I mean I've tried, I will say that. I have Steam. I have like 20 or so games on it. I've tried playing games on Steam, but the laptop and mouse don't really feel natural. I don't really have money to buy a 360 controller to plug in, and even if I did, only half the games I own are compatible with it.

I don't like having to deal with specs and graphics cards and checking system requirements...

It's kinda like this

Do you like Sonic Generations? YES
Do you have a laptop or computer with a certain OS? Uh... yes!
Do you have this obscure graphics card that you will only probably use for a few games? uh... what?

Whereas with a PS3...

Do you like Sonic Generations? YES
Do you have a PS3 or 360? YES
Here you go then!

It's a gripe I have with computer games as a whole, and why I prefer console gaming. I don't need to worry about my system being outdated, and useless. Whereas with a computer I feel stupid if I buy a game and it turns out it runs worse than expected =/

Obscure? There are two leading graphic card companies out there, and getting the best ones for either one won't require you to update every year. An up-to-date computer only needs a new graphic card like once every 5 years if you are good about it.

Combined joytokey/xpadder with a PS3 controller and 360 controller emulator thingamajig.

I have this setup on my own computer, it's a little bit of work getting it going, but it's very worth it, being able to use my PS3 controller for any controller based game, even those locked down to the 360 controller? Bliss.

Being able to have it stimulate keyboard keys for the rest? Added bliss.

It's a bit of work, but definitely worth it, especially since the only thing you'll need to get is one USB -> USB Mini cable, which you should already have for your PS3.

As for the game it self? It feel kinda meh to be honest, the classic part works very well, but the modern part feels a little too much hold square to win, maybe it'll get better later on. I'll probably pirate the PC version first, and then see if I'll make a purchase.

This.

I love the classic version, but the modern feels a little... eh. I am getting it regardless, simply because it looks as close to classic Sonic as I'll ever get again =/

Problem is I'm not good about this stuff. I don't know why but this computer stuff has always confused me. When something makes me feel stupid, I kinda just back away from it in fear. I love my laptop very much, but I just don't see why I should bother with PC upgrades and the like when I can get the same game without the hassle =/

CPU you can't put a graphics card in a laptop, it doesn't work. Most laptops are underpowered, or have intel shitty graphics, so to laptop users it would be obscure.

And to those of you concerned about hold square to win, remember, this is green hill zone. you can hold right to win in Sonic 1 in green hill. Later levels are gonna be more complicated

Yeah, you can hold square/X/whatever to win, but considering there's 5 red coins in each level that you need to go off the beaten path to get, it adds a little more strategy. Plus there's tons of branching paths from what I played, things that only people with extremely good reaction time could boost and get to at the same time.

Also, imo Classic Sonic with a spindash was a lot faster than Modern Sonic with a boost.

Yes, but it could also be that it's a very shitty port, and if so, it's not even worth it at the 30$ price tag.

Next, one may want to play it on a big TV screen, and not everyone have one connected to their PC.

T-T

I wouldn't call it shitty... just not made for gaming =P It was pretty affordable, and it came with everything I needed on a budget haha

I'm in the market for a new PC and even if I manage to get one before the game releases, I still prefer playing console games over playing PC games. Leaning back in my chair with a controller in my hands has been the way I've always gamed and I can't see that changing drastically anytime soon. So I plan to purchase it on 360 and I'm sure I'll have fun with it regardless.

I'm getting it probably for the PS3 so I can play more than Disgaea games on it.

I do have a very nice (now) PC and a USB 360 controller so I could probably get the PC one no big deal.

That's what I'm planning on doing with the PC version.

Same here, but only because I don't have a console to play it on, and I have a really comfy computer chair. Alternatively I can just sprawl on my bed and play, too.

It seems the physics in this game are horribly broken. Go figure.
