That might just be a problem with the physics engine they're using (wait, old Sonic physics aren't realistic? What a shock!). That and that loop is huge compared to the ones featured in the Genesis games.

The other thing I noticed is that Classic Sonic has a really fast top speed, compared to his regular running speed. That's quite a difference from the Genesis games too.

I still want to give this a shot though, it looks really nice.

Yeah, but, he starts from a higher point as well. He doesn't even go a full third of the way up the loop, nor does he gain the noticeable speed he should from rolling.

Furthermore, if they say they're making him classic, make him feel classic.

I rolled down a different hill in the game and stopped practically when the hill ended. That shouldn't happen.

It'll be interesting to see if they improve the physics any. I mean, it's a small point, but it couldn't hurt for them to fix it, unless there's some massive thing that prevents it.

Huh. I guess all that matters next would be that Sonic Team is aware of it, if they aren't already.

I'm more interested at what happens around 0:35. What was that?

Am I the only one bothered by the way the music loops at 1:50ish?

Chemical Plant Zone!
Also modern City Escape.
I love the music in modern CPZ, not so much for City Escape though. Probably because I thought the original version was fantastic.

Both look rather fun, I was hoping for a bit more open ended stuff as seen in SA2 rather than a set path, but it does look rather fun.

I hope they do something about that pink water. It hardly stands out against the extra-red everything else and hardly looks realistic. It doesn't even look like liquid!

At least the stage looks awesome!

That's an interesting take on the truck section of City Escape... looks like fun.

My younger brother, who is a big Sonic fan, said he was thinking of buying a 360 or PS3 just for this game... so maybe I'll have a chance to play it after all.

The pink water seemed a lot less transparent in the Sonic 2 version... they should go more like that.

I got Xbox Live Gold just for the demo of Sonic Generations, since I have been aching to try it out like everyone else.

It is a pretty fun little start. Has some differences from other classic Sonic games but it is fun. Modern Sonic plays good too. It seems that Modern's stage is.... bigger than Classic's. Probably the "3D Gameplay" in it.

While modern sonic's is technically bigger, he's also much faster, so what's left of that feeling isn't the actual size of the level, it's the openness. Modern's is much more open than classic's, because you see it from a different angle.

Game is up for pre-order on Steam by the way for an amazing $30. That is pretty cheap for a new game that is also getting console ports. You also get Sonic 3D Blast and Sonic 3 & Knuckles on Steam if you preorder.

Not that you would need that preorder bonus to persuade you. I think the price is actually manageable if it turns out the game isn't utter crap.

I played the demo and things did seem off, most notably the fact that getting hit takes like two seconds before you can even do any movement, something that DOES bother me.

No chance for a PC version demo? I kinda lack an 360 to get the demo on. ;

If I recall correctly from an old video that stuck Classic Sonic in Modern's GHZ, he's actually much faster than Modern is. Mainly because of that ridiculously overpowered spindash, but still...

Either way, I'll probably get it on Steam even though it already looks like a shoddy mess to me. Just to say that I actually do have it, and all.

I remember a video where spindashing crashed the game, so he never spindashed. He was much slower.

if you have a PS3 and want to try the demo, you can make a UK PSN account to download and play.

You can spindash just fine in the 2D sections of Modern's stage, at least... Either way, I was probably remembering it the other way around -- the video of Modern in Classic's stage, I mean. He definitely seemed slower there than Classic did...

I don't have a PS3 or a 360, actually. I'm really not much of a console gamer.
