Surprisingly, yes. Whether through a scrap metal yard or selling it to someone who actually makes things out of tabs.

How many of those tabs are from drinks YOU consumed, though?

Not so much, surprisingly. I'd say a quarter at the very most. I do most of the collecting by finding empty cans on the street. If I'm able to I'll also bring those cans home (never know when the next time my mom will go to the scrap yard, but it's a small way of helping them too).

I need to make sure way more of my tabs are from that source though. It really isn't a great idea buying energy drinks because of it.

In my defense though I had an energy drink fix and those tabs actually are worth more. (I heard as much as 8 cents a tab?)

Also I checked how many tabs I have, and I have less than I thought (362 or so). 41 with color. Not bad.

I'll tell you what you can't do with your tabs... You can't redeem them for time on a dialysis machine!

(I was curious so I googled around to see if there were places online that bought soda tabs, and somehow when googling just "soda tabs" this was the first result. I thought it was too wacky not to share.)

EDIT: According to that article, 100 tabs is about 3.5 cents. With that logic one tab is .035 cents. This brings your total of 362 to tabs to 12.67 cents.

I used to have a massive collection of tabs and turned them into a shirt of "ring mail" with my mom's help. Of course, when I wore it, I cut myself to high hell on the sharp edges where the tab disconnects from the can. So then I wore a shirt under it... goodbye, shirt.

In the end, I didn't even think of selling it or taking it apart and selling the tabs. I always assumed they were more or less worthless, and if they're about 0.035 cents a piece, they are to me.
