Ok, I just have to wonder, but what in the world...?

And if you're wondering why I directed you to a user profile, then take a look at his ban title.

I don't normally ban for offsite behavior but you're a whole level of terrible.

He's a dumbass who followed a few of us users from Vizzed.

He is hated there as well, and was permabanned for being a general nuisance.

He came here and seemed to be banned on sight.

That's all I think.

He was VERY rude to a lot of people here. Formerly banned for it. Or something. I really never got much more specifics beyond that.

A while back, he registered an account in response to this thread and began exclusively posting insults. The staff saw it fit to ban him and delete his account, including his posts.

The other day, he re-regged with a thinly veiled new username, so the expected result followed.

Wow, that's a good memory you have. I had forgotten about that thread. I think we can all safely say that his website has gotten worse.

Yeah his website is pretty rad. It's a good example of neo-dadaism in modern website design.

I guess there really is a reason we called it GeoShitties.

Eh, though back in the day, some of that stuff is what got us the start. Look at David Wonn's site for example. Then again, I consider his site the exception to the rule.

And now I don't know where I'm going with this, so I will end with throwing a random insult toward this guy of your choice here.

A little known fact is that GeoCities was the ghetto of web design, even back then.

There was Xoom, and Angelfire, and 100megsfree, and many, many others. GeoCities was one of the worst, for how it intruded upon user's page design.

The only reason it survived so long is that it was popular. Most of the good sites were killed by being actual competitors to current-day fully-featured hosting plans.

As for the design, that design ethic was all we had back then. I have a website I made when I was 10--it's every bit as jumpy and loaded with flashing GIFs and ridiculous navigation things as anything else in the era. We thought that was good. It was all we had, anyway. Minimalist or functionalist design was rare and considered 'weird.' I remember sort of being confused when sites began to change away from the old days design.

Unfortunately since GeoCities survived, everyone thinks it was the pinnacle of design. In all reality, functional sites existed with the wacky old-school design (see: Old Nintendo site revisions from 1998/2000), though they still look wacky today. Also the old SMBHQ design (same era) was good too, despite being so filled with flashy images.

Though there isn't much regret in leaving that era behind. As time has gone on, I've noticed a lot of the old guard are split between benevolent, patient people and extremely stuck-up, annoying jerks. (I'm sure I fall into the latter category, heh.) If the net remained made out of us old guard, we'd have no Youtube and no modern file posting utilities--websites would still be cloaked in obnoxious buttons.

Still, the new can be bad sometimes too. I really question whether Facebook is all that good... user-made websites can and would be superior in all aspects--privacy, information display, and lack of annoying interface updates--but since people are just told Facebook will put up the info for them, they just sort of let it be that way.
