If you had to pick a blockbuster game to pass up this year (from October to the end of the year), what would it be, and why?

My choice was MW3. Reason is because I have a feeling this is more like a modified version of MW2. The series was known to have too much bullshit moments than any other online multiplayer games, and Treyarch's Black Ops took the cake in bullshit multiplayer. Worse, no dedicated servers in the consoles for MW3, so no thanks.

The only ones I'm getting from that list are Dark Souls and Forza 4.

You've missed a couple major ones, too, like Skyrim and Skyward Sword next month...

I don't buy from Activision*, so MW3 is out to begin with, and I don't like most modern FPSes, thus also eliminating Battlefield. Saints Row and Uncharted never really appealed to me anyway.


* Special exception made for Blizzard games on the rare occasion there's one I want...

Forgot about those two upon the first post. I had Skyrim and Skyward Sword on my mind hours before coming up with it, but short-term memory loss screwed me up.

i'm least interested in modern warfare 3, so... although i'd be willing to choose battlefield 3 as well--i've played a bit of it, and it really isn't my kind of game

Yeah, I'm passing on MW3 too, also Battlefield 3.
Already preordered Skyrim and SR3, and I'm playing Uncharted 3 at my cousins. Skyward Sword will be the special edition, possibly preordering soon.

This.

If by Blockuster you mean:
Games that take a small city to develop.
Cost millions of dollars of investment.
Yet still have bugs when released.
May or may not have some kind of platform exclusivity and or bullshit about how/who can play the game.
Cost $50.00 or more and oh yeah..aren't all that fun to play.

..then yeah, "blockbuster" games can die a horrible death.

I know there are strong exceptions to this, funnily enough though, none of the games mentioned in the poll I consider exceptions. I won't be picking up any of these.

Instead of spending $50 or more for one of these "blockbuster" games, I'm gonna spend $50 or less for multiple indie games that will net much more enjoyment.
