As for where the computer industry would be, it's hard to say. Personal computers I imagine would've been an eventual obvious progression. If he didn't do it, someone else would've. There were already kit computers people could get and assemble, and there were some digital video game systems for the home by then, so things were trending that way already. So things would be different, but there's no reason things couldn't be better if he wasn't involved. ____________________ |

The New York Times also published a very lengthy and satisfying obituary which is worth reading if you want to read more about this man, although there is probably significant overlap.
Anyway, I'm really shocked he died so young. Pancreatic cancer really sucks. I was surprised, as I had never seen a picture of him. Thought that my friend was joking when he first said it, but later found out that it was true. Did not have any real emotion response though
