I was hoping all the seniors here (high school class of 2012) could share our college applications. I'm interested in seeing the stats of everyone here. Good luck on the college application process, everyone! I'm certainly excited to start my apps.

I'll post mine later, it's 2AM and I should sleep.

Here's a format you can use:

Gender:
Ethnicity:
Income bracket:
State:
High school type:
SAT: __ CR, __ W, __ M
PSAT: __CR, __ W, __ M

GPA (unweighted):
GPA (weighted):
Class rank:
APs taken:
IBs taken:
Senior year schedule:
Extracurriculars:
Hooks:
Colleges you're considering:

I wonder how I'll do on my apps! Are you getting some sort of college counselor to help you with yours, or do you think you'll just do it on your own?

legacyme3
"In short, legacyme3 does horrible things to people, and I don't think anyone else on Jul should be exposed to him, no matter how decent of a person he pretends to be."

I don't normally ban for offsite behavior but you're a whole level of terrible.

Nice, I'm probably the only person on this site who will be in the class of 2012, but the format here doesn't even match the Canadian Education System.

I was in the class of 2005. I feel old.

However, I will be sending out a college application soon. But it's for graduate school.

Hm- out of curiosity, do they take the SAT in Canada? Or do they have their own system?

Well, We have to take PAT's in canada, along with our Diploma exmas in Alberta. I really don't know how they're different other than how they're scored.

I would've been surprised, not even Puerto Rico takes the SATs. I had to go well out of my way to take them. :/

Like Terra, I'm going to be applying to grad school myself. I'm also a slightly more distant class of 2004 member.

I remember I was 16/81 of my class. Not exceptionally smart by any means.

Also! Not only am I an English-y guy, I also know a lot about the college process thanks in part to a summer job I've held from 2007 - 2010. Feel free to ask me for help with college essays and the like. Those are a bitch.

2008 grad myself. I think I will be applying for grad school not too long in the future, but I still have GREs to take.

I was not a good student in high school. I guess I never really believed that anyone cared how I was doing in school, and by 'anyone' I mean the real world. So applying for colleges and realizing my two point something gpa was going to stop me from going anywhere I wanted to go despite my ~2200 SAT and eight AP fives was really shocking.

As a result I started caring about school, and did really well in college (George Mason University, Computer Science).

I love formal writing and helping people improve their writing. Bug me if you have something you want checked over for structure, tone, etc.

Not in Quebec.

Then again, Quebec's education system doesn't make sense

We have th SATs available here in BC, but they're not required for anything, unless you need it to apply for a school in the US.

Just like here in my town! Unless slashing the budget over and over isn't what they do to Quebec's educational system.

I am rather worried about applying for graduate school, although I imagine that the very fact that I am already considering my graduate school application so early will provide me quite a substantial advantage over the majority of applicants, even where top universities are concerned.

Over here, you write a personal statement detailing what you did in college, what skills you acquired and what your hobbies are. Then you go to the UCAS website to apply. Then you pay £11 if you're applying to one university for one course, or £22 for more than one university and/or course. They'll give you a conditional offer and if you get the grades, you're in!

Of course, earlier submissions are more likely to get their first. Med school submissions have to be in by the 15th of October.

And of course, I can't apply at all thanks to my college screwing me over :specialed:

I'm not a Senior, but given that I transferred from community college to university, I can give some tips.

1. They mainly want to know that you're a good student (GPA > 3.5 ish, above that seemingly overkill unless you're trying to get into super-competitive programs)
2. They want your knowledge to match fairly well with their degree;
3. Money doesn't matter unless you're an unfortunate person from the middle (If you're rich, you can pay it, if you're poor, you can get all the aid you need and more).
4. Preference is given to people from certain locations. Find out what places like your high school/community college to best have a chance.
5. I'd really advise going to community college over straight up transferring from high school. At least at my university, community college people are seen as "Elite" and most likely to do well, and seemingly we learned more than people who transferred in as freshmen. You also avoid being the sort of undercaste "freshman" status entirely.
6. Yes, all those statements they ask for are VERY important, and even if you are rejected, you can write an appeal letter and if it's good enough, get in even if you don't entirely match their requirements!

Canadia, Alberta. Class of 2015 at my university, but I'll likely graduate in 2016 cause I want to do a one-year internship thing.

We're way different up here in Canada. You need certain things to get into university, not certain grades.

I didn't need amazing English grades to get into Comp. Sci, but I needed a higher English class to get into university.

Quebec school system is so fucked up, you don't even need a bachelor to get a Masters or you can get a PhD with only a Bachelor and skip the Master.

Questions ? Ask away !
