Never heard of Mumble. I used Stickam last year to pretty decent success (I know a few people from here hung out there most of the day so they could attest ) so I'm thinking that's probably gonna be the medium I use again, but I might look in to Mumble too. Either way, if I end up on Stickam ya'll are welcome to join and participate.

Also as previous stated, I'm gonna have an open-door policy throughout the entire 24 hours (and then some, as I'm not sure the three of us participating at my place would all start at the same time) of the event so any interested west-coast users are more than welcome to come and celebrate and even join in some multiplayer fun with us! Former Acmlm user Kirby Popstar and myself will be playing throughout the day along with another participant, it should be a really fun time since even my solo run last year proved to be quite amusing for many. Anyone interested just has to let me know and I'll give you further info privately. I'm really just trying to make this event as fun and accessible as possible both to spread awareness for the great cause but also to bring more people together for a common thing.

I'll need to start making some preparations soon, like planning out food (I'll be driving for 24 hours, it'll be mostly liquids), choosing a location in the house to set up my TV/PS3 and PC, figuring out who's going to be watching the kids (might have my parent's take the for most of the day so my wife isn't stuck with them by herself all day), and also running some tests on streaming from my iPhone and quality tests.

When using the Stickam app on my arguably very dated iPhone 3G there tends to be a good 15-40 seconds of lag at any given time...something to keep in mind for if using any sort of streaming application from there, I don't suppose other models may have better luck though.

I'm not so concerned with the lag since its for streaming, not necessarily for communication. That's what I'll have my PC next to me for, using Skype or Mumble.

Mumble is more a voice chat program where Skype is for calling. Mumble and its rival Ventrillo are used a lot for video games (shooters, MMOs, etc) for team coordination. No need to call people and connect, you just put in the server address and password if any and connect.

I'll probably be using UStream since it has more features I prefer on my iPhone app. I haven't tested its video quality yet though, I only played around with Justin.tv on my iPhone. I was satisfied with its video quality, so I'm hoping that Ustream is similar.

So, my live broadcast of the event will begin at promptly 8:00 AM PST tomorrow morning! You can tune in at my stickam starting then (video will not be up until that point) and even feel free to sign up and chat along with us! (you can use text, or if you have a mic or camera even join in the antics yourself!) The east coast chapter of my team will also be streaming along with us. It's going to be a very good time!

It goes without saying, but my doors will also be opening at 8:00 am PST. any west coast JUL-ers are more than welcome to come by--as its a 24 hour event, you can obviously show up whenever you please. We're gonna try and make this a really big, fun live event this year!! I can potentially offer limited crash space if needed for those who may travel a bit longer. PM me for details if you're interested in joining us! Let's try and make this year an even bigger success than last year's!

I decided not to do it. We went to the Lord of the Rings live concert last night and we got home late so I didn't get much sleep. And the fact that GT5 experience was nerfed so I couldn't race the 24 hour of Le Mans race anyway since I didn't get to level 35.

I was planning on doing something like this sometime on Christmas (When i get Charter Internet. AT&T really sucks at Upload speeds and I tried streaming on this PC. Quality was absolutely horrible and thus I can not stream anything except retro games)

But if I were to do this it would probably be 24 hour Starcraft 2.

So really I'd just like to take the time to thank everyone who tuned in and gave their support either in the form of a donation or just by hanging out and being awesome. You really helped make this event a success and my team was able to meet its goal of raising $1000 collectively! Hopefully we have helped make a difference in the lives of some sick kids.
