I don't know why, but an extra 20 minutes of sleep in the morning makes me not feel so tired all morning.

David Fincher is working with Atticus Ross and Trent Reznor again. I guess Fincher's found his Angelo Badalamenti to his David Lynch.

I just got some groceries including some Worcestershire sauce. The kind I have doesn't have any anchovies in it like it's supposed to which makes it effectively vegan, which is really weird since this is supposed to be a fermented fish condiment. I'm pretty sure I'm going to get a not-vegan kind next time—probably the authentic Lea & Perrins brand—because I want that hint of anchovies that makes all English dishes what they are.

Anyway, Worcestershire sauce is really really strange. I poured a tiny bit of it into a teaspoon after I opened it and its flavor reminded me of soy sauce but a bit spicier and more sour. Apparently it was made when some chemists were told to duplicate soy sauce or curry or something and then the mixture they made totally sucked so they banished it to their basement for a few years and then they found it again, all fermented and everything, and randomly decided to taste it and it tasted really really good.

I have this increasing fondness for fermented food products such as wine, cheese and now the tongue twister Worcestershire sauce. It's pretty weird because these products are basically produced by making something rot. The idea that a nicer, better product can result from a process that pretty much disgusts a lot of people is oddly beautiful to me.

Chemists who decide to randomly taste things? Sounds like a risky business.

Portal 2 has been on my list of games that I need to play, I just haven't gotten around to it yet. I'm actually surprised how well I've been able to avoid spoilers so far, although at a con that I was at about a month ago I did see a few things that might have been partial spoilers .

I'm putting off Portal 2 as well.

I know potatoes are involved in some form. That is clearly obvious.

Yep, that's pretty much the extent of what I know as well.

Huh. Apparently dad is going to work even earlier. Heard his alarm go off at about 3:15, went to the kitchen just now, didn't see his thermos. So apparently he goes to work at 4 now? Or perhaps they're dealing with a bunch of extra things to ship right now. Or perhaps dad's plan for making retirement less painful is to clock as many overtime hours as possible. Would make sense, since he comes home at about 4 PM.

Edit: Went outside to check for dad's car, found nothing, then looked up at the sky. Despite popping the maximum amount of Xanax I'm allowed to take daily making me have sucky balance, I have never seen so many stars out before. It was amazing, actually seeing some constellations. I want to go out to the Illinois countryside, pitch a tent, and just watch the stars all night long.

Wow I guess I got my dad's fascination in astrology as well. :U

I have the patio/balcony door open to air out the apartment. Thankfully I have a screen door as well since the cats would surely go outside. It smells like puppy and burgers in here.

Hopefully I can get some Catherine in today. It depends if Shepard will take his nap. Just trying to eat breakfast is a challenge.
