I know this is probably better suited in the food topic but the last post there was made by me and I don't want to double post.

I went to Sel de la Terre, a French restaurant in the Back Bay with a rustic feel to it, tonight and it took a really long time for our entrée portion to arrive but right before it did, the waiter brought over a plate of lamb, some small potatoes and sauce smeared into the plate the way you see it happen in haute cuisine. The waiter told us that this was made and plated just for us by the chef.

This is probably my first time ever having lamb and it's pretty strange. The texture is very much like beef and it has a more intense red meat flavor to it, which is really cool, but then this very strange and unfortunately unpleasant aftertaste kicks in. It's a shame because I want to be open-minded with tastes but it's just so overwhelming.

The entrée I had was a grilled hanger steak frites with some red wine-shallot reduction. The sauce was slightly bitter, which was a really nice change from the sauces I usually have. The flavor was very nice and complex. The fries were cut really thin and because of this they were really crispy. I had a nice leek and potato soup for appetizer which I absolutely loved but really I made this post to talk about how weird lamb is. Anyway, lamb is weird.

I'm looking at vintage pedometers right now. They're kinda ugly. I'm thinking maybe I should just buy some Pedz or whatever and walk around with green frog pedometers or something. Or maybe I can use a Pokéwalker, but I'm afraid that might send a message too nerdy to be stylishly nerdy.

The Pedz are really tempting.



Look how wonderfully clean it looks, the way a vintage fixie looks with all those unnecessary brakes and gear removed. Talk about no frills. I could have one of these on my hip or something and then I'd walk around town and I could measure the amount of exercise I get. It's sooo much better than retracing my walk path on Google maps.
