Endermen also don't work proper in SMP.

Though, it's kinda fun like that anyway for now. I kinda like being able to run up and hang out with them without having to worry much. :3

Also, hmm...there a new 1.8 pre-release map yet from you guys, or is the old map still in play? I might pop in tomorrow to see what's up.

I played prerelease 1 (after applying the tiny patch to fix up furnace crash) in single player for a tiny bit, and I found myself enjoying exploring an abandoned mine shaft. I wish there was antidotes for poison from cave spiders, but eh. I still enjoyed it. Exploring the abandoned mineshaft was cool, but tense. Though, the tension I felt was more on the lines of tolerable compared to exploring a massive cave system from the previous versions. (Actually, that was less tension and more annoyance).

Last night, I backed up my server, loaded up prerelease 2 onto it, and created a new world. This game felt almost brand new to me (though it doesn't help that I hadn't exactly played the game since the map update!). We found an underground ravine. And it was awesome.

I haven't figured out how this parrying thing works properly, but I can actually fight off zombies on a server without getting hurt! And it's fun to sprint, jump and attack pigs! (And then frown when I realized I just sent a porkchop into the ocean).

I guess the food system will annoy people, but I quite like having a purpose for farming and such!

With 1.8 officially released, the new lighting system still crashes on me once the sun starts setting, I place a torch or I light a furnace. I'm hoping an optimization mod fixes that or in the long run, someone reimplements the old lighting system into a mod. Speaking of, time to go look for such things.

If it's completely crashing, it might not be a performance/slowdown problem... More likely calling upon an unsupported/buggy feature in your graphics driver or something.

I've been playing on the release they sent out today. No sign of the old bugs for me~ No crashes either. Just a lot of dieing. But I suck at Minecraft without mods anyway.

Nice to see creative is in finally though. But honestly, the fact that lighting is just a cheap imitation of real colored lights is an unbelievably large disappointment.

It seems like that's the case. Turning off Advanced OpenGL and smooth lighting at the same time fixed things for me. I don't know how those turned on, I always have 'em off.

In any case, I don't know if I've really noticed the damage reduction due to the critical hits and such. The little tweaks they've done to combat seems to make it feel fun to me rather than an annoying chore in a multiplayer server.

Creepers are still things I don't want to tempt. Apparently, they can OHKO you. Maybe when I find enough items to make armor. Too bad I refuse to use anything other than leather for armor.

Just downloaded 1.8 now that minecraft.net was up again.

My experience so far:

"Oh hey, cool, world generation is not shit anymore... holly shit that's a fissure, and I see a dead mine down there, I need to get down there somehow *starts digging*"

10 minutes, I'm impressed, it's longer than I expected. I tried again, but, six minutes later I ran into the same thing again so... :specialed:

Frame rates are pretty bad now. Must have dropped to about 2 or 3 fps when it started raining. I don't think I'll be able to play again until I get a new computer.

Everything else is looking good though. I really like the new lighting.

I've finally ran into a disappointment for myself.

I had been looking forward to going out and making maps and then cloning them and give them to others.

Unfortunately, only map_0 can be cloned. I can't clone anything else. Any attempt will always give me map_0.

Sigh.

Hey, I'm all for wacky stuff in games. The less realistic the better I always say. He can add whatever the heck he feels like to his game...as long as he don't break what does work...

It's a shame that the awesomeness of 1.8 has kinda been dampened for me because of the random crashes and Java Memory issues. Anyone else having this issue and know of a fix? I have tried this, but still have same issue.
