True, there will always be artistic styles for different genres, but for a lot of games it will be. Racing games, simulators, sports, shooters, etc. But there will always be room for cartoony or fantasy styling that isn't meant to be realistic.

I hope hyper-realism doesn't become the norm for most games. That just sounds boring. I could see it for sports/simulation games, but otherwise it's just bland.

Off the topic of video games for a little bit, we had some serious thunder and lightning last night. So much that it woke my kids up so I decided to get some video. Most of it was too far north for me to get from my bathroom window that faces east. But I got this one really good strike on video, here are some screen caps of it:

It was actually pretty clear last night, still clouds all around but not completely overcast. Today is a different story. Can't see the sun, nice and dusky, light rain. What a beautiful day!

Man, I really need to not play Modern Warfare 2 before going to bed. I stayed up till 2:40am playing it and had to get up 3 hours later to go to work... I'm feeling ok right now but getting up was really hard.
