Windows NT 3.51 is a pretty cool operating system, much like a hybrid of Windows 95 and 3.1...

This operating system came out in 1995, and was the last Microsoft OS to utilize the classic Program Manager and File Manager as the default GUI. Posting from NT 3.51 actually reminds me a bit of posting from my Macintosh Performa from a while ago

Edit: And apparently, as soon as I made this post, NT 3.51 crashed... maybe it's just VMware though

Hm, what are you using for a web browser?

I don't think I've ever used NT3.51...

I was using Netscape 4.08 for now, until I can install Seamonkey and perhaps IE 5 16bit

Good old Netscape 4... I think that may have been the first browser I used on Acmlm's back in "the day". I suppose this site works better in it than other modern sites might.

Did NT3.51 have Cardfile?

NT 3.51 had Cardfile... in fact, that version of Cardfile still works in Windows 7 x64

3.51 should have all the 3.1 apps.

I remember using Cardfile a lot for no apparent reason. I can't even remember what I would have stored in that thing...

Haha, me too. I think me at age 4 just had a stupid fascination with the concept of a virtual Rolodex for some reason. I kind of remember using it for just a bunch of names of imaginary people and businesses and stuff that I would come up with while sitting at the computer.

I wish I still had the hard drive from that computer so I could look back on all the dumb crap I did with that thing.

I installed Windows XP in VirtualBox a few days back and it works fine. Can't say the same about Windows 2000 or Haiku, though.

But hey, at least I can use MS Explorer, like, three. Yay.

Is there still an auto-ban for visiting with IE6?

I used to do this too, except for various bits of information. Of course, 3.11 ran like ass on my 386, so I just ended up with MS-DOS Editor and writing my own QBasic programs to do shit...

...ah, those were the days. I'm going to be eternally angry at my mother for throwing away that machine without so much as giving me a fucking chance to get my files. I lost a ton.

I nearly ran a 4-processor Pentium Pro Windows NT 3.51 abomination.

Then the sticker price vs. actual performance convinced me otherwise.

Sometimes it does not pay to be ahead of your time.

Yeah, it's funny how multicore came out. I'm like, "Man, I had that idea long before it was practical!"

Similarly, I began coding websites in 1997. I got internet access in 1998. That's right, I knew how to code HTML without anywhere to put it. WTF???

Then again, I began coding in C at age 10. Nuts.
