Right here in VA...

This is definitely the first one I've ever experienced that was like an actual earthquake. We've had some before, but it felt more like someone dropped something heavy. This one was shaking the house at... I want to say about 3-4hz, it literally felt like the floor was gelatin, which was very shocking.

Fortunately, it wasn't strong enough to knock anything over, and our power is still on, so let's just hope it's done for now and everything will be safe.

Fucking christ hell! :O

We felt that way up in New York. D: Sitting here, minding my business when I notice *my computer is shaking* and I'm dizzy. Freaky shit.

I felt it here in Williamsburg as well. This is the first time I can remember being in an earthquake before too, freaky.

I was just reading about this! You east coast people don't generally get earthquakes, do you? But it's a good thing that no one was hurt.

I felt very little of it here, probably only like a few seconds at most... didn't know what it was (thought it was thunder at first )

It was felt here - it's on the news and all.

I, however, slept through it. Fuck yeah heavy sleepers. My mother was in a panic, however.

I read a comment on youtube saying that they were just in an earthquake. How bad is it?

Felt it a tiny, tiny bit, but I wouldn't have even assumed it was an earthquake unless one of my friends contacted me and told me about it.

This is the second time I leave a place for a while and not long afterwards, an earthquake hits the area. So I missed it because I'm in Chicago for two weeks. Last time was when I left Puerto Rico, there was an earthquake the next day.

The epicenter wasn't too far from Lake Anna, where the nuclear power plant is.

My first thoughts were "Japan's getting their revenge!"

I'm worried about the aftershocks though, they said they could happen any time, especially within the first 24 hours.

My brother lives on Long Island, not sure if they felt it there. I texted to see. Pretty crazy to have one originate so far east. There are some fault areas right there in Virginia though, as seen on this map. The epicenter was north west of Richmond, VA so it was pretty much right at the edge of that fault area.

There was also an earthquake in Colorado. One report said it was a 5.3, the other says 5.7 but they both same some homes were damaged. So it was a decent quake. It was far enough away that we didn't feel anything here in Las Vegas. We usually only feel ones on the eastern side of California.

I've been through some nasty Earthquakes (due to being a native Californian)... they suck. Lots of stuff gets knocked over and broken. Though just remember to duck under desks, rather than run out into the streets--that's liable to get you hit by falling debris.

I heard Washington DC was evacuated after it happened. I'm sure everything's back to normal, but it's still surprising to hear. I hope everything is okay up there.

I wasn't sure if I felt it or not, since a storm had rolled by at about that time, so whatever I may have felt could have been chalked up to that instead of an earthquake.

We didn't feel it here, but years ago there was an earthquake which...I think it originated in Quebec or something, but we actually felt that one.

It was a small quake, but it was enough to shake some things. It was weird.
