A lot of people seem to think that my first name (Taryn) is a boy's name. I've never known any males named Taryn, at least with that spelling.


I've never met ANYONE with the name of Taryn honestly. I think it depends on the spelling. The way it is, makes me think it's feminine, but if you spelt it like Tarin, or Taren, or with two rs, I'd think otherwise.

That isn't really a new trend- a lot of names now considered solely female were once considered male names.

Apparently they subscribe to the outmoded belief that being male is always better than being female, and businesses will only ever hire men. So they give their daughters "strong" male names so people will think they're male, or something.

I don't get it either. To me, it seems that women get more overall freedom of choice and such than men these days, at least in Western countries. Places like Saudi Arabia are different, yes. But the whole "male >>> female always" thing just seems really dumb to me.

I thought it was because that some names (especially traditionally masculine names) are becoming gender-neutral to some degree.

Some names used to be exclusively male 200 years ago, but now they are considered female like Dana, Evelyn, Meredith, etc. It's all about cultural transformation.

I am very much female in every way, both physically and mentally--which, in my case, is a very good thing. (I'm not sure I could live with being transgender with the body I have, to be honest--it'd be damn near impossible to pass. I could always bind my divine breasts, but my hip bones would be really hard to hide.)

I am male. I'd give proof but I'm not sure everyone would want to see my hairy.... FACE! I was going to say face the whole time. I do have a full beard. But I've seen some women, older mostly, that don't shave their mustache.
