An island is pretty cool but I wouldn't want it to be a libertarian one. I'd have it be a Sofi-tarian one. It'd be made out of pure awesome.

Looser building codes, on board an oil-rig-style platform? I predict a combination of Deep Horizon, The Titanic, and Bioshock.

Let me know when you figure out how to convert "Awesome" into a physical form.

And they need to work Bitcoins into there somehow!

If it's, to quote the article, "beyond the reach of law-of-the-sea treaties", does that mean we can pillage and/or burn as we wish?

But hey, if it gets even a small fraction of these "no more government!" people out of here? I support this wholeheartedly!

Lol this sounds like the premise to a James Bond movie where everyone goes to this island and never leaves and now 007 has to investigate it but finds out they're all brainwashed and he has to blow up the island or osmething.

James Bond won't have to do it...

They'll do it themselves.

First off, that design: badass.

I like the idea of an oceanic country/city that isn't restricted like the mainland. But I'd rather it was a society of scientists. It is potentially a good thing, given they can get it all working right. The only thing I disagree with hugely is the few restrictions on weapons.
