Oh man, TVTropes is going serious? That's so weird! Is there any official announcement about this?

It seems like this is what lots of sites are doing these days, this whole "serious transition". I get the feeling that'll be a huge trend come Web 3.0: the destruction of silliness.

The internet will become serious business? That's impossible!

Maybe the previously juvenile users are maturing and the newcomers are sticking to social media?

Haha, cool joke. :J

Anyway, I got these really really awesome bags of pizza-flavored goldfish crackers and I ate a bunch and I think it caused me to develop the world's most hardcore canker sore ever. Or maybe it was because of too much wasabi from sushi. Either way, it really sucks.

I don't understand how a person with a 3.7 GPA can be so clueless, and at time stupid.

I suppose there's booksmart, then there's life smart. People assume wrong about which one she is.

Aren't GPAs an indication of how much effort you've put forth anyway? I totally don't remember how this works. I don't know.

What's the girl doing to you now, Sponty? :T

GPAs are based on your grades in your various classes. Usually 4 is an A, 3 is B, 2 is C, 1 is D, and 0 is a failing grade. These are averaged together, possibly weighted by the number of credits each class is worth, to yield a number between 0 (bad) and 4 (good).

Yes, which means it's an indication of effort put into getting schoolwork right and not intelligence.

Not necessarily, you can get A's without putting any effort and you can get F's even after putting as much effort as you can.

We weren't even testing for that.

I went out for a walk today, along the river. It was great! I should really do that more often, there used to be a time where I walked for an hour every day...

I beg to differ My first semester was a great example of this; how I neglected my language classes and geography and got A's on them, and how I worked as hard as I could for my Public Speaking class and couldn't do better than a B+.

Yes, they're the wrong classes if they're not adjusted to your level! That's why accelerated and honors math classes exist. It's not just about prestige. If you neglected your geography class and got an A, then it's clearly under-challenging you and therefore it's so not a good match. Wrong class.

I'm in college, these are requirements I have to take and everyone else on my program also has to take. Also, I think you misunderstand what I mean by neglect; I always study for all of my classes, but in comparison to the effort I had to put for Public Speaking, the other classes were relatively easy. I don't think I would've been able to get through German 201 without having taken German 101 (the one I took that semester) since by the time the class started, I didn't even know how to ask people their name.

I'm not really sure if we're talking about the same thing then. Oh well.

Anyway, Orlandu, if you ever feel super-hungry even though you ate not too long ago, maybe your body is asking for some water? That should really help a lot, trust me.
