Title says it all.

Current day Chicago actually has land that's been built into the lake. After the Great Chicago Fire in 1871 ended, there was a ton of rubble left over. The rubble was used to build into the lake, with most of the area becoming the downtown park district.

Here's a map of the areas affected by the fire (0N/S, 0E/W is at State and Madison, in the highlighted yellow area) And here is a present day map.

I kind of have an odd feeling that I may lave posted the same thread before but yeah.

Yeah, you did

Durham has a Norman cathedral and an 11th century castle, both of which are designated a World Heritage Site. We also have quite a few Grade I and Grade II landmarks.

Don't know much about Buffalo, to be honest. There was the Pan American Exposition, and there's also chicken wings.

There's some other neat little things on the wiki article. Seems that the city does a lot of medical research and stuff. The human genome project is based on Buffalonians. It also seems that it's one of the environmentally cleanest cities, only because the economy of the city has crapped itself a long time ago.

Well the town I live in is considered the Wine Capital of Canada.

Actually, we found a bottle of wine from one of the wineries here featured at the Canada section of Epcot.

Back when I lived in Pasadena, there was the Rose Parade. My current location is Las Vegas, which is self-explanatory for what's interesting.

And my current California home is confidential because I don't give that sort of info out. :p

My hometown is where the TV show "American Loggers" takes place.

However, you don't give a fuck about that.

Not really an interesting fact about Chicago, but the lake we border, Lake Michigan, has a tiny strait into Lake Huron, and experts consider this to be one physical lake, Lake Michigan-Huron. This is because the lakes lie at the same height above sea level and rise and fall together. This makes it the largest freshwater lake in the world by area (Superior beats them out in volume still!).

The only reason people consider them to be two lakes is because the Strait of Mackinac (pronounced Mack-ih-naw) is 5 miles wide and only 120 feet deep.

You did make this thread before, Gabu.

Although I live in a very small town (West Chester in PA) ... this is where the EB Games Headquarters used to be.

John Krasinski lived here or something. It's funny because he was born in the suburb I grew up in, too. It's like I'm tracing his steps. Next up: The Office.

You know, back when the World's Fair actually meant something... we had a pretty damn great one in 1967.
